When I Saw HIS Face…

Rick has been a dear friend of mine for over 40 years. He has written several dozen books with over 10,000,000 copies sold. That doesn’t count the over 100 million copies of a children’s Bible he and his team produced.

Well about 11 years ago, he felt God inviting him to set himself apart for what amounted to an average of 6 – 12 hours a day being taught by the Lord in His Word.

That lasted TEN YEARS!

Imagine what that could produce in your life!

He came out of that ten-year period a changed man with a depth of understanding of who God is and how much God wants to RESET our lives and lead us into an incredibly rich and fulfilling life.

Rick claimed that Jesus wants to reveal Himself to His people, just like Jesus promised in John 14:21.

Well, I’ve been a Christian for almost 50 years and had numerous miraculous encounters with God, but I wasn’t expecting what happened at the end of the challenge…

I had just retired for the night after being greatly enriched by what Rick shared and was pondering the wonderful things that Rick brought to life.

After a few minutes, I turned over on my side so I could fall off to sleep. In just a matter of seconds, suddenly right in front of my face was the face of Jesus! Roughly 24 inches from mine. Talk about face-to-face!

It startled me to say the least!

Have you ever had your eyes closed and then had a bright light flash in front of you? Maybe a flash of lightning or a bright flashlight? When that happens, you can see the light even though your eyes are closed.

Well for me, even though my eyes were closed, I could see His face and His amazing penetrating eyes with perfect clarity, as if my eyes were wide open.

My first reaction was to jump back. It’s more than a little alarming to see someone clearly by your bedside, unannounced, but when that person is Jesus, there are no words to adequately describe it all.

He wasn’t looking at me. He was looking away in a direction that I can only describe as being towards the future. His gaze was more intense than anything I have ever seen. I don’t know what exactly He was seeing, but it wasn’t playtime. It was very serious.

I have thought about that visitation often. I can still see His face and the dazzling blue green color of His eyes. They’re like fire in their brightness and sparkle like diamonds in the sun.

My takeaway from that experience was simply this… He didn’t tell me what He was looking at, but I got the sense it was best I didn’t. I believe it had to do with what is coming at us.

And for that, I believe it is essential, even critical for God’s people to really know Him and learn how to walk with Him. The profound protection He promises in Psalm 91 is contingent upon us DWELLING in the Secret Place (not just reading about it or occasionally visiting it.)

For many of us, that requires a RESET of our thinking and the way we walk out our relationship with Jesus.

According to Revelation 1:6, we are kings and priests and as they say in the world of health, “we are what we eat”. When you understand the Hebrew meaning of the names of the 12 sons of Jacob (represented by the loaves) and the message they portray when given in the order of their birth, you will have found a profound piece of the puzzle for resetting your mindset.
