The Unexpected Power of Mercy

By Michael Q. Pink

August 15, 2023

For anyone who feels weak in faith, who may be up against what feels like insurmountable odds, I’ve got good news for you. Actually, it’s great news!

What God opened up for me today, I feel strongly prompted to put in this blog (and video) because I’m confident this is an urgent word for some.

We so often think of faith as something that releases or activates the power of God, and I believe that it does. We also know that without faith it is impossible to please God. (Hebrews 11:6)

And in our attempt to build our faith, we often miss out on something more powerful… the mercy of God.

We attempt to apply our faith to circumstances in hopes of seeing them change. In the process we sometimes, unwittingly, are putting our faith in our method or in our faith itself. We wonder, did I say the right thing? Did I say the wrong thing? Did I have unbelief?, Did I not have enough faith? etc., etc.

You try so hard to believe for a healing, for a promotion, or dare I say, to win the lottery. And it seems at best, to be hit and miss. Probably a lot more miss, than hit.

But I want to tell you about something you can have 100% confidence in…

It is the mercy and loving kindness of the Lord. I’m going to share an incredible story in a video down below, but first I invite you to read what the Bible says about mercy…

“The eye of the Lord is on those who fear Him, on those who hope in his mercy.1 His mercy is great toward those how fear Him.2 The earth is full of His mercy3 and He takes pleasure in those who fear Him and hope in His mercy4. Mercy and truth BELONG to those who devise good.5 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow you all the days of your life.6 All the paths of the Lord are mercy and truth7 and he who trusts in the Lord, shall be surrounded by mercy8 for the Lord is a God FULL of compassion, and gracious, longsuffering and abundant in mercy and truth.9 God is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us.10 So let us come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in our time of need.11 For the Lord is good and ready to forgive, and abundant in mercy to all those who call upon Him.12” (Scripture references are at the bottom of this page.)

Now, here’s the video I promised you. There is much more to share with you on the topic of mercy. Perhaps in my next blog. May peace and love be multiplied in your life today!

  • Dear brother, thanks for you post and yes it was for me again this morning. Just a couple of days as I was crying out to God, someone who I never met, except on FB sent me a message that touched my heart and I knew that rather than from just that person, it was God’s answer to my call. I have been wanting to write a post on the mercy of God for days on the TranzformU FB page and will do so later on after catching up on my work and I will tag you on it. You are an amazing brother in the Lord. You post remined me of David Wilkerson’s call to anguish. Shalom. This is the link if you haven’t seen it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lGMG_PVaJoI

    • Hi George… Thank you brother for investing your time and heart to share. What a blessing! I loved the David Wilkerson video as well. Thank you for sharing!

  • Thank you Michael for this amazing word. It was definitely for me. This will help so many others who are weary in faith. I will share this. God bless you for all you do.

    • Thank you Sharon for posting your comment. Much appreciated! so glad you were able to take that word for yourself!

      Blessings, Michael

  • Thank you for sharing, the Lord always sends the correct messenger, With the message I need to hear!! I am so thankful for your ministry, and for the love you show your sheep!! I am Blessed!!

    • Ah Marilyn… You are so beloved in the Lord. My wife Judy and I are so honored to be a vessel through which he can flow to others and be a blessing. Thank you for your comment!

  • A old friend, Mike Murdock, wrote a song many years ago called Mercy Rewrote My Life. I have never taken it for granted. Great Word Brother..

  • Truly blessed me, Michael, thank you. A timely reminder to not take ‘I will pray..’ for granted or forget as someone’s life may literally depend on it – Amen!

  • Your message minister to my spirit. You also told the truth, not praying as we should. Thank you kindly. Blessings to your wife and you.

  • I was almost surprised as I received the help from your post this morning. Probably from the flip side…wondering if those who said they were praying for me were actually doing so. Sounds selfish, probably, but sometimes when we think we have the greatest faith we realize our need for a miracle is greater than we realized…I’m not one to ask for prayer…but appreciate the hope, when I do, that I receive them. Blessings, Michael…

    • Hi Joanne… So nice to hear from you again. Glad you are still receiving my blog posts and I always appreciate your kind and thoughtful remarks. Like you, we do tend to extract hope from those words that others speak (such as “I’ll be praying for you”). Thank you for taking the time to comment Joanne. Much appreciated!

  • Thank you for forwarding scriptural hope for people facing hopelessness as many of us do in facing today’s evil world and events. Praise Almighty God Triune!

  • Thoroughly enjoyed & endulged in this encouraging story & insight into our Father’s wonderful mercy! Thank u, Michael. 🙌
