The Battle is Intensifying – Don’t Make This Mistake…

By Michael Q. Pink

June 6, 2024

For one very long and painful month, I caved. I gave into the pressure.

I succumbed.

Not because I thought it had more to offer, but because my boss had been pressuring me for the previous five months to do things his way. It was after all, the proven, logical path.

It was July of 1986 and I was setting sales records in my new sales job, but in a highly unconventional way. My boss was a good man who thought if I would only do things his way, my results would be even better.

Do you remember this story in 1 Samuel 17… “So Saul clothed David with his armor, and he put a bronze helmet on his head; he also clothed him with a coat of mail. David fastened his sword to his armor and tried to walk, for he had not tested them. And David said to Saul, “I cannot walk with these, for I have not tested them.” So David took them off. Then he took his staff in his hand; and he chose for himself five smooth stones from the brook, and put them in a shepherd’s bag, in a pouch which he had, and his sling was in his hand. And he drew near to the Philistine.”

David submitted to the authority of the king and tried on King Saul’s armor, but quickly took it off and resorted to what he knew best… a slingshot and trust in God.

My boss was frustrated with me because he saw me come into the office around 9 AM instead of the 7 AM arrival time he practiced. He also saw me head for home around 5 PM instead of the 6 or 7 PM time he would leave.

He wanted me to come early and stay late so I could do my “paperwork” during non-selling hours. It actually makes sense, but there was one thing he didn’t understand… I arrived each day in my sales territory much earlier than 9 AM, but I spent those “non-selling” hours praying and / or reading my Bible to prepare me for the day.

I would carry my prospects names on individual 3 X 5 cards and pray for them, and ask God for wisdom to make the sale. He had some pretty cool suggestions – which I implemented.

But in the month of July, instead of spending that time in spiritual preparation, I came into the office early and did the paperwork, proposal writing, etc. that was expected of me. I put in more hours “working” in July than in any month before or after, ultimately sacrificing my intimate time with the Lord.

To be clear, it wasn’t a conscious trade-off.

I just didn’t have the discipline to rise at 4:30 or 5:00 AM to “seek first the kingdom of God” for an hour, then get ready for work and drive nearly an hour to arrive by 7 AM.

The net result was that in the month of July, I made only one sale. That was 25% of quota. Even getting that sale required supernatural assistance.

My boss was a pragmatic man.

He saw me put in way more hours than in previous months. I kept the schedule he wanted me to keep, but my income as a straight commissioned salesman was seriously injured. He came to me at the end of month and released me to keep whatever schedule I wanted, and do whatever worked for me.

That’s when I asked God for an idea to make up for the loss of sales. While waiting on Him by the side of the river at a nearby state park, I had an epiphany. It was another unconventional idea that when I asked my boss for permission to use that strategy, he literally fell off his chair onto the floor laughing at me.

But he gave me permission – even though he thought it was “far-fetched”.

I finished the third quarter of the year at 300% of quota! From then on, he would say I was from Mars. He couldn’t grasp how I, working less than other sales reps, could vastly outperform them. It made no sense to him.

After all, aren’t we supposed to follow the fundamentals?

Fundamentals are important. Do them well and you will have a measure of success. Fundamentals are what I call Level One. But Level Two and Level Three are never taught in corporate America. It’s extremely rare to find it taught by anyone, anywhere. They are found in the Moses Blueprint and are astonishingly profound. (Learn more HERE)

The Moses Blueprint had three areas. The first was illuminated by natural daylight and speaks of naturally observable best practices. Not everyone finds this level, but most who do, never discover, (let alone practice), Level Two which was an area with no natural light.

It was illuminated by the 7 branched solid gold lampstand burning olive oil which illuminated the table of bread. The oil represents the Holy Spirit and the bread represents Jesus who is the Word of God. It’s where the Holy Spirit teaches you Biblical secrets and models for succeeding in any endeavor.

Level three had neither natural light, nor candle light. It was illuminated by the supernatural presence of God. The strategies you learn at this level are way beyond “ninja” skills.

I have studied and practiced the ways of God as revealed in Scripture, and modeled in nature for 40 years with great success. Just a few years ago, I helped a struggling company who started with 12 agents but had dwindled down to just three (and they were looking for another job) to have a massive turnaround.

I was given full authority to teach and implement Biblical strategies. Six months later, we were back up to full staff and had generated a 7 figure profit. I helped for two more years, and it became the 16th fastest growing, privately held company in America on the INC 500 list.

If you have a business or perhaps you’re in sales and you want to truly learn God’s wisdom and ways for sales and business, I strongly encourage you to register NOW for my 3-Day Selling Among Wolves CHALLENGE that starts Tuesday, June 11-13 at 8 PM Eastern.

I’m going to unpack more value for you in that CHALLENGE – free of charge – than you may have learned in your entire career until now!

If you choose to really and truly learn and apply God’s Word, Ways and Wisdom to your sales, business and entrepreneurial endeavors, you will run into resistance. So if you prefer to “go along to get along” this may not be for you.

I know what I’m talking about… YouTube highly limited my ads for this challenge because I used a word they found very offensive. It was the word “Biblical”. I pulled my ads from there today.

If this resonates with you, then consider sharing this blog or this landing page with your sphere of influence. If you do, then instead of paying them, I will send you a free copy of Rainforest Strategy by mail. If you live outside the US, I will send you the digital version.

I have no intention of being silenced when I know the truth. And it is my mission to help you learn and master the practical wisdom of God for sales and business so you can take great care of your family and impact the world for Jesus Christ.
