How the Word Becomes Flesh

By Michael Q. Pink

March 5, 2024

The angel Gabriel came to Mary and told her that she would conceive and bring forth a son, despite not knowing a man. And this son would be called Son of the Highest and God would give Him the throne of David and He would reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of his kingdom, there would be no end.

Now I realize it’s not Christmas, but stay with me a minute…

Understandably, Mary asks how it would be possible for this to happen, as she was still a virgin. And she is told the Holy Spirit would “come upon her” and the power (dunamis, miracle working power) of the Almighty would overshadow her.

Three invisible, non-physical things (Holy Spirit, dunamis power and a shadow) would somehow result in a visible, material reality of flesh and blood and fulfill every scintilla of God’s promise.

But it needed agreement to become a reality.

And that agreement required faith (belief). That’s when Mary said, “Behold the maidservant of the Lord! Be it unto me according to your (freshly spoken, rhema) word.

The phrase, “be it” in this context is the same as saying “so be it” or “Amen, I agree”. Her “amen” to God’s promise resulted in the most miraculous birth of human history.

What does that demonstrate for you and me?

The “logos” of God is 100% bankable. It needs no other support...

HOWEVER, it is my experience that God often, by His Spirit, will “quicken” a logos (written word of God) to me. He somehow makes it come alive in me. The logos becomes a “rhema” word, freshly spoken to my spirit… And when I hear it, faith arises within (“faith comes by hearing” – Romans 10:17).

That’s when it’s incumbent upon me, to say in effect… Here I am Lord, Be it unto me, according to Your promise.

The only thing required of Mary to bring this miracle to pass, was her “amen”, her agreement, not just in thought, but in word.

She spoke her agreement out loud.

And of necessity, that word had to emanate from her heart, not just from a mental recitation. (“For with the heart, one believes”. Romans 10:10)

Do you desire to see a material, physical, visually observable and documentable manifestation of God’s promises in your life? Marinate your mind in the logos of God, until it drips down into your heart and fills it to the point of abundance, for “out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks” (Luke 6:45).

Stay in His word until faith arises and you can give from the depths of your heart, a firm agreement, an unassailable “amen”. If it has been awhile since you’ve experienced that, you may have to press in and continue pressing in, until His Word once again becomes alive in you.

But it is so worth it!

Like Mary, it may take 9 months before the world sees the fruit of it, but its birth into observable reality will dwarf by comparison, any shortcut attempt from a man-made effort apart from God.

Do you need a promise from God’s Word to take shape in your life?

Dive into the “logos” of God, who is a person named Jesus (John 1:1) because ALL the promises of God are found only in Him (2 Corinthians 1:20). When the “logos” speaks to you and becomes a “rhema” word to you, give it your full and hearty “amen”.

Come into full agreement with what His Word says, and it will grow on the inside of you, like Jesus did in the womb of Mary, and in the fullness of time, be that an instant or longer, you will “reap in due season if you faint not”. (Galatians 6:9)

    1. Hi Erin… Thank you for sharing. It’s always helpful to know that one’s efforts are not in vain. Blessings!

    1. That’s funny Gary. It depends on whether it’s an Asian elephant (18 – 22 months) or an African Bush elephant which is almost 2 years. But then, it might be a Virginia Opossum which only has a gestation period of 12 – 13 DAYS! 😊

  1. Thankyou, Good Word…I’m applying it right now for the manifestation of healing over cold/flu symptoms! God is watching over His Word to perform it!

  2. This is a very powerful and foundational piece of writing, thank you Michael for sharing and for being faithful to God's unfailable word.
