What Goals Are You Trading Your Life For?

Would you agree that life is precious? Everything you see and hear on earth loses meaning for you if you do not have life. Life is the most precious gift imaginable, yet every day, so many people trade the most precious thing they have (their very life) for lesser gods and lesser goals.

It’s as if their life has no value, no meaning, no worth, no direction.

Make no mistake; you are trading your life for something. Why not trade it for something great?!?! Why settle for low living and mediocre goals when we were designed and built for so much more? You know what your problem is? You haven’t identified what dominant goal you are willing to trade your life for and secondly, you have no idea how to make it happen.

Answering the first question is what Peter Daniels talks a lot about… knowing what goal you are willing to trade your life for. Maybe you’re content to trade your life for “just getting by”, but that doesn’t work for me. I suspect that doesn’t work for you either or you wouldn’t be on this blog.

Do YOU KNOW what you are willing to trade your life for? As Curly said in the 1991 film, City Slickers, “It’s just one thing”. Everything else is subordinate to it. Like Jesus, you will “set your face like a flint” towards that one thing. Nothing will make you abandon that course. But when you don’t know what that one thing is, every path seems right.

Had a telemarketing call left on my voice mail yesterday. Promised we could make thousands of dollars a week from home, without selling and with very little effort. I wonder how many suckers fell for that one. My wife Judy said, “Even if it was 100% legitimate, it has nothing to do with our life.” She’s right! You see, we have a course and we are set upon it, but when you don’t, every promise looks good.

The number one reason people accomplish little in life while desiring many things is because they haven’t figured out what that one thing is and therefore haven’t set their face like flint towards accomplishing that one thing. Maybe you had it at one time, but lost it. I have a word for you… GET IT BACK!

Don’t let the devil hold on to stolen property, including stolen dreams. The number one way he is able to hold on to your dreams is by handing you excuses that you accept. When excuses become unacceptable, you will find the resolve to take back what was stolen from you!

As you may know I will have the privilege of interviewing Peter Daniels on Friday for a full hour. If you don’t know the significance of that opportunity, watch the video on Tuesday’s blog. You are free to submit questions, but I cannot guarantee they will be asked. An hour will fly by fast. The interview will be available for replay on the blog.

Until then, be fruitful and multiply!

“Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but THIS ONE THING I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.
