They almost always start out subtle.
Unobserved.
Like the breeze blowing through the treetops.
Who pays attention to the sound of rustling leaves?
Newly anointed kind David did.
He was besieged by the Philistines, so God told him to circle around behind them and listen for the sound of the wind rustling the leaves of the mulberry (poplar) trees. (2 Samuel 5:24)
That was his cue to attack, which gave him another breakthrough victory as he established his reign as king.
Anyone could have heard the sound of the wind blowing through the leaves, but only David was listening for that as a cue from God.
There wasn’t a big trumpet blast from Heaven to signal his attack. It was subtle.
A breeze.
I point that out to you because most breakthroughs are like that.
They start out with a subtle hint, and if you’re perceptive… if you’re paying attention, you’ll realize that you’re in the moment when favor is going to be poured out.
All you have to do when you get the signal, is act decisively.
The breakthrough you’re looking for is blowing in the wind.
Can you hear it?
The Hebrew word for “wind” is also translated as “breath” and more often as “Spirit”.
Do you want a winning strategy for success in your life?
Learn to listen for the wind… the subtle leading and prompting of the Holy Spirit.
Most miss it.
And they languish, still waiting for the big breakthrough, some sudden dramatic event that bursts upon the scene like a tsunami.
But that’s not how most breakthroughs come.
They come from hearing. So does faith. (Romans 10:17)
Followed by action. The kind of action that is preceded by training of some kind.
When David went against the Philistines, he was a trained warrior. He wrote in Psalm 144:1 “Praise be to the Lord my Rock, who trains my hands for war, my fingers for battle.”
But too many people want the easy way. They don’t want to prepare, or learn, or train. They just want the result. The miracle.
But God wants to train you... to show you exactly how to get a breakthrough.
Most likely, your breakthrough is right around the corner.
It’s actually at the door.
But you must hear. You must listen for that subtle clue that just about everyone misses.
Except those tuned to the Spirit of God who are listening for His voice in the wind of His Spirit.
Just like David did.
But instead of listening to the wind of the Spirit, they chase the noise of the crowd, of the hustlers, of the world.
“Make money this way, that way, my way.”
Inevitably most folks who follow that tune get pulled into a trap and never obtain the thing they hoped for.
And they get disillusioned…
