It’s utterly profound to me, this thing we call “speech”.
We have the unique ability among all of God’s creation, to shape our world with our words. It is such a unique and powerful gift, but everyone has it. So common that we oft fail to recognize its power or value.
Solomon understood this and repeatedly mentioned how your words, wisely chosen and timely spoken can change your world for good and perhaps shape history.
“A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in settings of silver” (Proverbs 25:11) “A man shall eat well by the fruit of his mouth” (Proverbs 13:2) “A man’s stomach shall be satisfied from the fruit of his mouth; From the produce of his lips he shall be filled.” (Proverbs 18:20) “The lips of the righteous feed many,” (Proverbs 10:21) “By the blessing of the upright the city is exalted,” (Proverbs 11:11)
Learning to communicate well, to harness the power of words to sway opinions, win hearts, influence a friend, a client or a nation is perhaps the preeminent skill needed for success in any field. When you learn to harness and direct your words wisely you can literally reset the rest of your life!
I will talk much about this in future posts including the various communication methods utilized by Jesus, but today I heard this clip of Jordan Peterson and wanted to share it with you…
Have a blessed week and keep pursuing Him!
