Most people assume I am American born, but I am not.
I was born in St. Michael’s Hospital in Toronto. Not sure if they named the hospital after me, or me after the hospital. 😊
Forty years ago this month, I came to America. I became a citizen in 1991 and now live in Florida. I like to say that I’m Canadian by birth, American by choice and Southern by the grace of God.
I know more about American history than probably 99% of Americans because for me, becoming American was a choice I made having understood its roots, founding and providential purpose of this city upon a hill.
America is a country of destiny, planted and cared for by God Almighty. I am well aware of her many faults, but instead of fixing my gaze upon her faults, I look into the eyes of God and watch His gaze. He loves her and is by no means done with her.
America, our best days are ahead of us, not without trials and troubles, but because of them. After all, there are no heroes without villains, and there is no victory without a battle.
You’ve heard of the American national anthem. If you’re an American, you’ve most likely sung it, but did you know the TRUE story behind it? I invite you to watch this very short video to inspire and lift your spirit today. And if you’re American, may it make you grateful. If you’re not, well God bless you anyway. 😎
Happy 4th of July my friend,

Blessings,
Michael
