A little over forty years ago, the world was my oyster.

Then the wave I was riding crashed in on me. Suddenly I was the oyster and I had no shell.

My first born daughter died in the hospital, my teenage marriage fell apart. My business failed. My two homes, luxury car and all my possessions were gone, and I was sleeping on someone else’s sofa (or in a borrowed car).

It’s safe to say I had hit rock bottom.

It’s not a part of my life I’m proud of. A lot of pain. No small amount of regrets.

Then in February of 1985, while walking in the rain (not singing) and enveloped in self-pity, God clearly spoke to me and asked me a simple question…

“Are you tired of feeling sorry for yourself?”

Not exactly what I was hoping to hear, but I know correction when I hear it.

So I asked Him, “Will I ever be established again?”

He told me to read 2 Chronicles 7:17-18 which is a message from God to Solomon and reads in part… “And as for you, if you will walk before me as David your father walked, doing according to all that I have commanded you and keeping my statutes and my rules,then I will establish your royal throne,…”

Of course I understood God was speaking to Solomon, but I also realized that He was directly answering my question.

The big thing I learned that day, was that God might come to your pity party, but He won’t participate. But if you let Him, He will lift you out.

As painful as it is for me to replay that traumatic memory, I share it because there are undoubtedly some registering for my Super Natural Provision Masterclass who are (or have been) in a very tough spot and really need God to show them the way out.

Here’s what happened next…

I stood there in the cold, drizzling rain that seems to never end on the West Coast of British Columbia, held up my Bible to the sky and told the Lord that I would do what it says to do, but only if He did what it says He does.

And if He did, I would tell everyone about what He shows me, but if He didn’t follow through on His end, I wouldn’t tell anyone about His Word and the promises therein.

God took me up on my promise to Him. What happened later that day and in the days that followed will blow your mind. (It did mine!)

But it was that promise I made to God that if He showed me from His Word how things work – (and they really did work), I would tell the world!

Tomorrow, I’ll tell you what happened only hours after I made that promise to God – and the unusual instruction that completely changed the direction of my life, permanently changing how I understand provision.

Be sure to open and read it, because the journey that began that day was not merely for my benefit, but I believe it is also for yours.
