Discerning The Will of God

By Michael Q. Pink

“For you ought to say, If the Lord wills, we shall live, and do this, or that.”

This is what came to me this morning in my open-ended, set aside time with the Lord…

“Along this path, I leave bread for you. Gather it all and eat, that you may have strength for the journey. My Word will become as food to you.

You try with reason, to discern My will for you, but My will is not determined or revealed by counsel or mere rationale, but rather by My Spirit says the Lord. When you devour My Word… When you feast upon My precepts, you are consuming and integrating the pieces of My will. It will spring up in you. It will grow up in you. Feast I say, upon My Word. My Word shall speak to you.

Think of my Word like food. Your job is to gather it, to chew it and to swallow it. I have designed your body to do the rest, to break it down, even to the molecular level, then redistribute it as needed throughout your body. When you feast upon my Word… When you gather the Word up into your soul and meditate upon it, consuming it slowly with intentionality, everything you need for life and godliness, including the knowledge of my will, shall be released back into your soul and spirit in the form that is needed. Yes, even my will is embedded in my Word. Feast upon My Word daily and you will never want for or lack to know My will for you.

The Words that I speak to you, they are Spirit and they are life!”

Personal Note: As many have noticed, I took a break from writing the blog. I needed some time to hear from God regarding the future direction He has for me and my wife Judy. We have just passed our 100th day of marriage and I am pleased to inform you of our great joy and immeasurable happiness. God has blessed our union in so many ways. “The two”, Scripture says, “shall become one” and this has truly happened with us. And the “one” that we have become is a new creation with a fresh purpose and a new destiny. We are seeking our Father’s direction earnestly at this time. It was in the seeking today, that He shared the above thoughts with me. There was so much more and I hope to share them with you in the coming days.

Hey Michael, It's really good to hear from you and it's good to hear that you and Judy are getting along well. Thank you for sharing the Lord's word and for sharing your life with us. Every time you share what the Lord is saying to you He is also saying it to us. As you go through struggles or even as you simply go through life making decisions along life's path and as you share what the Lord is saying to you we can apply those same Words of wisdom to our lives. We all have struggles and decisions to make in life and the wisdom that God gives you is the same wisdom we need in our lives to make those same types of healthy decisions and plans of action. Take all the time you need to settle yourself into your new walk with Judy. Give her our love. Keep us posted now and then. And when you are ready to run again, we'll be here ready to be blessed by your impartation and your witness of the Lord's wisdom and insight to us all. We love you and send you many blessings by the way of the Holy Ghost.

Michael, Good to hear from you. Thank you for sharing the word. I am in total agreement with James' post. I only want to add that you should take all the time you need to rest and enjoy your new wife. I remember reading in the Bible that the Priests were allowed to take off a lenghty period of time when they got married. So, you are entitled to the same priviledges. Many blessings to you and Judy!!!
