Social Media Success Stories

Today's message is a guest entry from my good friend, David G. Johnson, founder of Epiphany Marketing. David G. JohnsonDo you see a man diligent and skillful in his business? He will stand before kings; he will not stand before obscure men." (Proverbs 22:29 AMP) You may be one of the many skeptics who has yet to see the promotional power of social media. If so, I want to be the first to commend you: you've probably seen many fads come and go, and you may have even wasted significant time or money once or twice before on something that was going to be the, "next big thing." On the other hand, there comes a time when something has actually caught on. Radio and television were once the target of similar detractors, not to mention the "online services" that morphed into our utter dependence upon e-mail and the World Wide Web. Is it possible to jump in too early and not see the return on your investment you've hoped for? Absolutely. On the other hand, with the help of someone who's paid the price to learn how to make things work, you can avoid the expensive tuition of the school of hard knocks. Two of my favorite examples from among my own clients who have begun to dominate their marketplace using social media are Christian parenting author, Rick Osborne, and Tom Ziglar, son of Zig Ziglar and President of Ziglar, Inc. Rick, who is worth following on Twitter and "friending" on Facebook, went through our 21st-Century marketing training program and was kind enough to pioneer translating our methods to Twitter (where he dragged me kicking and screaming). Tom Ziglar, who executed a now-famous Twitter strategy after our consulting engagement about 8 months ago, now has a consistent audience of 21,000 and counting!

"But I'm Not A Bestselling Author and My Last Name Isn't Ziglar!"

True enough. But when you break apart the essence of the strategies that are working for them and for local businesses like the now-famous LA taco truck, there's no reason you can't grow your revenues, build relationships, and increase exposure for your business. Let me assure you: this "passing fad" has become the new PR, advertising and marketing outlet of choice for those looking to achieve "bang for the buck." The key is understanding how these environments work and how to sustainably and effectively engage them. I look forward to sharing these crucial components with you tonight! Dear friends, I think Michael P. and David J. will agree that God (not Al Gore, ha ha) invented the Internet (social media) and anointed certain people, perhaps like Al Gore, to be instrumental in making it a working reality. I believe God' s purpose for the Internet (social media) is one of his ordained means to bring people together under the banner of his righteous kingdom of unity on earth. Through the social media, I believe Father God is fulfilling Jesus' s prayer that we all be one with the Father as he is. But as with most all of Father God's plans and purposes he has ordained that the devil challenge and try to either hijack or in some way stop God' s plans from being fulfilled. But we know that God always maintains control of Satan and that Satan's efforts actually bring about the perfecting of God' s plans to ensure they will be carried out perfectly. We know that Jesus told his disciples that Satan comes to steal the kingdom word from people' s hearts after they have heard it. But in God' s plan he will empower his children (his saints) to eventually overcome Satan just as Jesus did and is still doing in the hearts of all mankind today. I think for many people, who first hear about the "social media", there are mixed feelings. For the wealthy more stingy type of conservative thinkers, the world "social" may flip them out believing it means socialism, where the government takes their tightly held wealth from them to redistribute to the underserving poor who they feel are lazy. The rugged American indivualist, who proudly accomplishes things on his own, does not look favorably upon anything "social" that would require him to work with others he may feel are ignorant and lacking in drive and motivation to become wealthy like he is. Basically such a person is very selfish and does not want to share the blessings God has bestowed upon him. But in God' s kingdom perspective, God is no respector of such persons. He does not honor the proud individualist. Jesus said such proud wealthy men will not enter or inherit the kingdom of God. But because God loves all his creation and his plan calls for all mankind to be saved and enter in and enjoy his kingdom on earth, God will remove the pride of the rich man and change his mind and heart so that he too may enter in to his kingdom. I believe God is using the social media to bring about the changes necessary in man' s thinking so they will be accepted into God' s kingdom. As people honestly discuss their expereinces with God and others on the Internet I believe all will be able to come to the knowledge of God' s truth and thereby be saved from the ignorance and confusion that has been wrought by the devil. Amen In His Majesty' s Secret Service, David Thompson
