Is It Wise to Twitter?

Today's message is a guest entry from my good friend, David G. Johnson, founder of Epiphany Marketing. David G. Johnson"Does not wisdom cry out, And understanding lift up her voice? She takes her stand on the top of the high hill, Beside the way, where the paths meet. She cries out by the gates, at the entry of the city, At the entrance of the doors...." (Proverbs 8:1-3 NKJV) One thing I love about this Proverb is the fact that Wisdom (personified) has a message to get out. Since that's true, She goes to where the people are... where her voice can be heard... where she'll have an impact.

Do You Have a Message to Get Out?

In business - regardless of whether you're the owner, a salesperson, or someone with another job function - we cannot thrive if the message regarding our products and services doesn't get out. Not only will we not be effective, but we won't be profitable. And unprofitable businesses - just like unprofitable servants in the parables of Jesus - don't last. When you're called to business, if you're not effective and profitable, you will not fulfill your calling. One of the most common questions I get asked by the businesses I work with today is whether or not social media makes sense for them. If you're from a generation that is used to the "good old days" before the web and before e-mail, social media can be a bewildering phenomenon. It can seem like some passing fad. Sites like Twitter, Facebook, even MySpace or LinkedIn can seem like time-wasters that grab lots of attention on the news, but whose business usefulness seems dubious. So the question becomes... what about your business? Serving your customers? Is it worthwhile to consider investing time and energy into social media? You might be surprised to learn that these sites are quickly becoming the new communication methods of today. And while there is no "one size fits all" answer for each and every business, many companies have learned that properly utilizing social networks can have a profound impact on the bottom line. If you haven't already done so, you need to take a serious look at how to get your message out in this new world in which we live. The fact of the matter is that regardless of whether you're looking to spread the gospel, impact culture, or grow your business, we must be wise in the effective communication methods of today. At the same time, of course, we must be diligent stewards of our time and resources. I'm looking forward to sharing with you over the next few days more about social media and how you can have a bigger impact and fulfill your calling! In the meantime... if you're already onboard, follow me on Twitter! Special Note from Michael Pink: Mark your calendar now for next Thursday evening, August 13th... I've invited David to join me in a special educational webinar to help all of us learn how social media can be used to grow your business, and advance your message! You won't want to miss it... ÊI'll be sending you an invite soon!

This appears to be common message that God is repeating in many, many circles. Though times appear to be tough, they are actually going to get tougher. Jesus said so, "unless the days be shortened, none would be saved." So we MUST stand firm in our faith, imagine life right now not having Jesus to rely on.

Wow that was on time! I needed that.

What if the things that God thinks are good for you are things that the world do not think are good for you? In 2 Cor 4, Paul talks about carrying around the death of Jesus in his body. He has received the persecution and beatings so that the all-surpassing power is see as being from God and not from man. Does this mean that the best things we receive are the things that bring God the glory? That these things are better than temporal blessings?

Right before I received this, I was talking to the University about the Psych class I needed. I was told the hold was taken off and I would haev to keep trying to see if someone drops. This course is pre-required before I can take other classes. As I was talking to her, I felt the nudge of the Holy Spirit to go on-line to register. As she is telling me that she is on-line adn there is no seats, I went on and there was 1 remaining. I told her this and registered for the class and received the seat. On her end, nothing became available. Thank you Lord that I can even claim Your belief as mine and just be obedient unto You.

Thank you Michael for another great post. Your posts are always edifying, encouraging and adding value to my own personal life. A scripture that comes to me after reading this is where Jesus says (paraphrased), "In the world you will have trials and tribulations, but be of good cheer I have overcome the world." He is the way and will make a way for us if we trust Him.

Ps. 37:4 also says "Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart"!
Mark Sneed at 8:27pm EDT - August 2, 2009
To Mark Sneed, Does Ps 37:4 indicate that God fulfills your desires or that He gives you the desires that you have within.
Joe Nathan at 12:57pm EDT - August 3, 2009
Joe, I believe that when we delight ourselves in the Lord our desires become what He desires for us. Those desires are not necessarily the desires that we have within, as those would be selfish desires, but rather they are the desires that He gives us. So, this verse is not promising us whatever we want simply by obeying the Lord! Charles Spurgeon said "Men who delight in God desire or ask for nothing but what will please God".
Mark Sneed at 7:00pm EDT - August 3, 2009
If I have yielded to him, and his holy spirit dwells within, there is no difference. A holy heart is drawn to God and his will, as the deer pants for the water brooks. Psalm 42:1 As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God.
