Unhurried Time

I am currently attending an intimate meeting with 36 Christian coaches, mentors and disciple makers who will be poured into by a couple of significant fathers of the faith today through Wednesday. I am referring to Henry Blackaby (Experiencing God) and Winkie Pratney whose impact on youth worldwide for decades has been staggering. Dave Buehring, a long time friend and significant leader in the body of Christ (www.lionshare.org) has arranged this "by invitation only" meeting to get a sense of what God is doing in the different spheres of family, business, arts, etc. I am looking forward to sharing with you what transpires and how that may positively affect all of us. I wanted to introduce you to him so I asked him to write the blog on Friday and again today. Here is the second blog... I had the opportunity not to long ago to spend some time with Henry Blackaby. You might know Henry from his world renowned resource, Experiencing God - with over 4,000,000 copies sold and available in some 70 languages. God has opened some tremendous doors for Henry to speak regularly into the lives of 170+ CEO's throughout our country, discipling them in the ways of God. His desire is for these leaders to maintain a fresh walk with Jesus, allowing the overflow to influence how they lead in the midst of business.Ê As we were talking, the topic came up about busy CEOs carving out time to be alone with the Lord. Here is what he had to say: "I've said to CEOs, you need to have an unhurried time with God.Ê However early you need to get up, get up, so that your time with God is unhurried so that he has all the time in the world to speak to you and to impact you.Ê Don't do a little devotional life.Ê A little devotional time will not do it.Ê And when I shared this with the CEOs, one of the key CEOs said, "You don't understand how busy I am."Ê And my spontaneous response was, "You evidently don't know who you're going to meet.Ê You're meeting the God of the universe."Ê So the next month when we met back, he said, "I now get up at 4:30 and this month was the first time I've led one of my employees to the Lord."Ê He said that was the best advice you gave me is to have an unhurried time no matter how you have to back up your getting up time.Ê Make sure it is sufficient to have an unhurried time with God." I wonder what the Lord may want to say to you, and how He may move through you, in the context of committing to regularly spend Ôunhurried time' with Him?! David Buehring is a devoted follower of Jesus who serves as the Founder and Team Leader of the Lionshare Leadership Group. Over the last three decades he has served as a pastor, spearheaded local, national and international organizations and projects, and has used his communication gifts to disciple and equip thousands of people in hundreds of settings. Dave is committed to guiding ministry and marketplace leaders in the ways of God and is actively involved in developing relationships and resources for Kingdom purposes. He is the visionary behind the DVD series Conversations with Fathers of the Faith, and the author of A Discipleship Journey. Dave and his wife, Cheryl, reside in the beautiful hills of Franklin, Tennessee where they enjoy their family and friends. Henry Blackaby was one of six "fathers of the faith" that gathered at Billy Graham's retreat, "The Cove" for an intimate time of revealing interviews into the heart of leadership as seen by each of these men. I can't recommend the series highly enough.Ê The impact on churches across the nation is already being felt so I am urging you to check it out and order it for yourself or your church. We don't make a penny on this. I just want to get this into as many hands as possible. If you choose the Leadership Kit, you can save 15% by using this Coupon Code FOF135.Ê The website is www.FathersoftheFaith.com

I love this one! Seeds of light wherever there is darkness. And I heard Winkey Pratney years ago when I attended Last Days Ministries Intensive Christian Training School. He was one of our teachers and I will never forget his teachings! They were incredible!

I think this points to one of the fundamental reasons why the church in America has lost much of its power. It's not about going to church, it's about BEING the church. Of course, I believe in the assembling of the saints. But as long as we think of church as a place outside of ourselves we're missing it. Sounds like an amazing time of impartation in Nashville.

I find this to be so true...what is ironic is I received daily devotionals from Prime to With God--the worl place beliver, and Oz Hilman on this day talked about the same thing. How we need to bring God to the work place and be the light that shines and lead more people to God. He talked about the stronglholds in the industry and how a lot of people work for the manna as opposed working for the Lord. I am a sales person in the hospitality industry and received my certification in hospitality sales. The intials behind my name is CHSC. When people ask what the initials stand for, I simply say Christian Hospitality Sales Competencies. I sell and work based on biblical principles. In the secular world kindness goes a long way and with times the way it is, a little enthusiasm(God with In), and servant attitude makes for great customer service. People have a lot of choices where they spenfd their money, but if you honor their choice and appreciate their business..you will always have their loyalty. Way to go Mike....you nailed it .... I challege all work place belivers to live by and work by the principles in the bible and watch God move on your behalf!

As you all should know, that part of American culture that separates the sacred and the secular comes from the old Greek culture. Os Hillman teaches this. This culture is, at its root, ungodly, and therefore unrighteous, because it celebrates the seed of mankind' s satanic selfish self, over and above God' s seed of unselfishness in all mankind which is the "Christ seed", the image of God in which all men are created. The satanic selfish seed is the seed of darkness and the Christ seed is the seed of light. Jesus told us we must deny the seed of darkness in us if we want to be his disciples. American culture has raised most of us to be selfishly independent, not to be dependent on God as Jesus demonstrated in his life. Jesus never operated on his own "will". He said he always did what he saw his Father doing. In the mind of Christ it was always his Father's will, not his own will that was done. In the ungodly part of American culture, we celebate the concept of rugged American individualism that says everyone can experience the American dream of individual success. All you have to do is set your goals to achieve it and work hard and you will achieve it independently without God or anyone' s help. The very idea of dependence on God or other people is repugnant to this way of thinking. In the Greek concept of democracy, the individual citizen and his vote is all important. Never mind the ignorance of the individual citizen, his vote must still be counted. The majority of the ignorant rules. Ah, but some will say, we are not a pure democracy. We are a Republic in which we elect representatives to carry on our government. Big deal! Why is that any better when our elected representatives are just as ignorant and selfish as those who elected them. Today our lives have become so complicated with getting and spending and other things that that no human representative can know enough about every aspect of American life to be able to effectively formulate righteous laws and much less to enforce them. As a consequence the seed of satanic darkness and ignorance reigns. But not to worry! In God' s righteous plan for earth, the seed of light in all mankind overcomes the seed of darkness as Revelation 11:15 prophesies. "The kingdoms of the world (darkness) have become the kingdom of the Lord and of his Christ and he shall reign forever and ever. Amen. David Thompson

Hear, hear to you all. The "self focus" of the Land of the FREE, and home of the brave, has in its good concept, fostered self centeredness wandering into the unholy. I love the song by Mercy Me, "So Long Self," and it reminds me of where I need to be regularly. On the other hand, the church (corporate body) has also encouraged a compartmentalized attitude in believers, saying "come and do" and not teaching the body to BE, and "abide" as Andrew Murray taught. Amen to Shari, we do not GO to church, we must BE the church and it is a 24/7 thing. The action of merely going has set up America to be the "enuch" it now is, ineffective, lacking true life/light and healthy reproduction. Blessings to you all! Kara

What a wonderful meeting this will be!!! It is so awesome to see how the Lord is guiding and directing His Bride so they will be where He needs them to be. We are called a royal prisethood, a chosen generation, a peculiar people. We are to "be in the world and not of it." I started volunteering at a local Food Bank. What an eye opener and what an opportunity to go "beyond the church walls." The volunteer ladies I work with were going to tell a joke and one turned and said, "You won't appreciate this Marg. It's not the vocab you are used to." What a compliment!! Already they know my standard and my belief. It is now up to me, to be mature and not pick up any ideas - like wanting to be part of the crowd, but rather Praise my Abba - that He dwells in me - the Father of Light in Whom there is no darkness at all. I am prepared to be separate, friendly, reaching out but never lowering my standards for Him. May we all grow in His Light and sow more of those seeds of light for the harvest that is ripe. Have a blessed meeting.
