Time is Money
By
June 11, 2009"I returned, and saw under the sun, that the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet favor to men of skill; but time and chance happens to them all." Ecc 9:11 There is something very significant in this verse which is lost to the modern, Greek oriented mind. It is the concept and meaning of time. What Solomon meant and what we understand may not be intersecting. In order for us to begin to understand what Solomon meant, we have to understand how he used that word and how it would have been understood at that time. I have found no less than four Hebrew words translated into English as "time". We use that "time" word differently "time" and "time" again, as in, What "time" is it? Or, It's about that "time" again. Or, This is the third "time" I've told you. Or, Do you think we will arrive on "time"? We mean different things but use the same word, hoping that the context will explain what we really mean. The Hebrew word Solomon used here is "eth". The same word he used in Ecclesiastes 3, when he uses that word 28 times (7 X 4) in his famous discourse... "To every thing there is a season and a time to every purpose under heaven." To me his usage suggests a play on the fact that there are four seasons and by showing seven (God's divine number) sets of four, he is showing that there are patterns of seasons in God that mimic natural seasons like springtime and fall. They may not come on June 21, but they do come with some predictability. When the tide comes in and out, it is according to the "eth" and we can predict the rise and fall of the tide. When a woman is about ready to give birth, it is according to the "eth" and we can predict within reasonable accuracy the time for her to give birth. The "eth" is not tied to a clock. It is tied to something more mysterious yet still predictable. Predictable that is, if you know how to discern or understand the times (the "eth") Remember what they said about the sons of Issachar? Scripture says that they had understanding of the times ("eth") and because they understood the "eth", they knew what to do. The word "eth" is translated often as "seasons". Solomon is teaching us that everything has its "eth", its "season", its proper time, including good and bad. The sons of Issachar were able to discern or understand what "eth" it was and could therefore make wise decisions. They had a way of knowing whether it was a time to pluck or a time to plant, a time to get or a time to lose, etc. We have lost that ability, but Christ has restored it to us. The same Spirit that raised Christ from the dead, dwells in us and we now have the mind of Christ. We can discover the "eth" that we are in and know what to do. Solomon is telling us that the "eth's" of life come to ALL OF US and those "eth" events are game changers. Our problem is that we don't recognize the "eth" we are in and we therefore miss our opportunity. It is sort of like being a farmer, when the last frost has lifted in the Spring and it's time to plant, but we don't recognize that it is Spring. We just think it is a pretty day. Come autumn when others are harvesting, we think they were pretty clever to plant crops so we try to do what they did and our seed dies in the ground because we missed the season. Knowing the time ("eth") can significantly impact your bottom line. I will continue to develop this line of thought for you if you all find this of value. Otherwise, I will study it for my own benefit because I know it is a game changer and will make a huge difference in my life. Let me know my dear brothers and sisters. Your faithful servant, Michael

Please continue to give us what God gives you. To me it is showing us the absolute necessity to seek God for ourselves and follow His timing and seasons for our lives . We are connected in the Body of Christ. Yet the importance of timing and seasons in our lives enables us to act on time and in season in the Body of Christ as well.
This is the key to success in life, in the Church and in business.

Please keep going. I suspect that these 'eth' time phases are powered by principles. What indicates the beginning or end of a cycle is which principles are involved, how much energy is in them and where they are relative to each other on a hierarchy of what is important to God, and what man, or a man, is doing with them.

God has given to each different gifts and you are certainly, in my opinion, using yours to speak to dry and some not so dry bones. God is speaking to many of us through you, don't stop! I say AMEN and am waiting anxiously for your next post. It's sort of like Christmas waiting for your goodies.

I find it interesting that God created time as one of the things necessary to run a universe. Before the world began there was no time and there will be no time after it has ended. In Genesis we are told about how the things that we use to mark time were created but I have never noticed where it says that time itself was created. Rather like we cannot see the wind but we can see the things that are moved by the wind.
Somehow we need time to make things work together in our world. The coincidences, the things that happen at the just the right time for some reason, the near misses where poor consequeneces are avoided because of split second timing are all things that we all have own stories about. It is an amazing ingredient of of our world and one that we can so easily forget to be thankful that we have been given.

Great scrutinizing of the word, Michael, I love it! I've been listening to a preacher/teacher that has been talking about discerning the will of God for your life and the constant thread in his teachings that rings through is that you need to get into prayer in order for the Lord to put His plans/desires in your heart that will guide you into His will. And in reality that's the way it's been with me in my own life. It is true about waiting on the Lord for His time, seasons, and \"eth\". God bless you and thanks for blessing us with your insights. May we seize the God-given opportunities as they come to us.
Anita at 10:55am EDT - June 11, 2009
Love to learn and hear what you have to say on the practical application. The last 20 years there has been much harvested in individual and corporate lives. I would like to hear how you would break down some of this topic like you did with the principles you taught and shared back in the copier days, and make it specific to current climate and business.
Chris at 10:56am EDT - June 11, 2009
You again are right on \"eth' with this message. I believe there is a big picture \"eth\" as relates to God\"s plan for this world and it's time and individual 'eths' for each of us to recognize simply as wait or go. Our ability to know the \"eth\" really does mean crop or no crop! Please continue your study and share. This is a strong message that will help and heal many who will heed it. Thanks. Your efforts are greatly appreciated. You are a man for this \"eth\"

Yes.. this is so timely.. Dr. Myles Munroe's new book hit this topic out of the park too.Overcoming Crisis, speaks candidly about the need for believers to understand God’s kingdom principles and to allow those principles to help each Christian to become a world-changer. He was just on Benny Hinn's program for 3 days.. I watched it on line.. it so works into what Micheal has been revealing to us.. the Holy Spirit is stringing together the strand of Pearls.. pearls of wisdom and understanding.. from many leaders in the body of Christ.. He confirms His word.... AMEN..

I'm really enjoying this time and chance blog. Please keep it going! Thank you also. It's been enlightening and has me thinking about how I can continue to store up more knowledge and gain more understanding about what I do. Hopefully I can continue to act quickly with skill when opportunities present. I think that's what I've always done, but I didn't know why I was successful. I mean, I knew what Christ teaches us... and tried to apply that to my business and pursuits in life.

I love the study. I would like to share a little thought about \"time\" that came to me at Christmas\"time\" 2008.
I was reading in Luke the usual passages but had started with John's conception first. I noticed that as the passage goes from working with John's introduction, to the first angelic visit it says \"And at that time.....\" It so caught my attention. And is a connecting word and ties the thought to the previous verse. So I am like at what time? When you look back, it is talking about when John was six months in his mothers womb and the words are using John's life as the measure of time. (You can see that I believe that children en-uterus are alive.) As I thought about this, I remembered Jesus's words later when he said that John was one of the most important men of all... and I thought \" that importance may have come because of the fact that his life triggered the timing for Jesus to come! And I thought, \"God counted time with a man's life, not the rotations of the earth and sun relationship.\"
Then later I was looking at the dream that Daniel interpreted where the image in the dream was made up of the lives (times) of various Kings. (I hope you know the one I am referring to...)
Points just to agree with Michael, that God's times are different than what we think about!
Go Michael! I look forward to the next revelation.

Hello Michael,
I think this is a \"timely\" (pardon the pun) study of God's word right now. It is a critical time I believe where evil is trying to ride a wave of chaos in this country. We need to focus our efforts on wisdom and discerning God's path and timing so that we can \"capitalize\" on the great & vast opportunities we have to establish wealth back into the hands of the righteous.
I truely \"THANK YOU\" from the bottom of my heart for your diligence and obedience for studying, using, and sharing the gifts God has given you to advance his kingdom!! Keep up the \"Great\" work my brother! May God continue to \"Richly\" bless you, your family, and your business's!!

I'd like to meet you.

Michael,
I vote to keep on keeping on with the insight you are being given on this subject. This message seems very \"timely\" to where I am finding myself right now as less than two weeks ago, I heard \"Issachar anointing\" in my spirit after being instructed to bind spirits of impoverishment. Then concerning adversities, \"You will be brought out with your words.\" After warring in the spirit over the past two weeks and coming into agreement two nights ago with a man of God by the name of McNatt, who was a guest on TBN; I woke up hearing, \"The mountain has been defeated!\" I am claiming I have my breakthrough! It was delivered to me with the name of Jesus written in every color of the rainbow! Praise the Lord!!! What's next?

Michael I am very interested in learning more this is a different time in my life I have been selfemployed for 24 years in the same business and things changed I had been graded at 99% and the customer asked for a reduced rate to where I could not stay in business if I continued with them
they were about 75% of my income I was going to build back but I don't have peace about it. I started learning how to get people out of debt and
build wealth and are surrounded with some good people but I stuggle in getting the appointments I need to close the sales.I know that we are where the Lord wants us now and I know he has blessed me meeting you several years back. I want to thank you and bless you for all you have invested in my life and my families life. Blessings Dwayne

This topic is very relevant in my life presently. I recently have been led into an area of my life financially that I thought was not possible. I have persevered and started to apply my learning. I recently have felt the urgency to step up my game plan through the holy spirit as the timing was ripe to reap fruit sometime in the future. I along with several other subscribers are receiving words of wisdom from your blogs. Please continue down the path that the Lord is leading you and journaling your blogs. This feels \"timely\" to me. I have been agreeing with Paul in Col 1:29 (NIV) \"To this end I labor struggling with all His energy, which so powerfully works in me.\" I was just thinking this morning that maybe we have more energy when we are in the \"stream\" or \"flow\" of what God is doing where we are. Or maybe it's that we get more energy when we are in His \"time\".

Dear Mike,
Thank you for defining time in the biblical sense where we can apply it in our own lives. Makes a lot of sense when we think of time in seasons. Its a wisdom that we have to be mindful of when we plan our work and setting goals. I have set a 6-month goal for myself and the starting point has not seem to find me yet. I think the title Time is Money caught my eye for a reason. I appreciate your articles. Imagine that when you started this blog site it was way before it's time. That's how our divine Lord works. When we continue to connect to Him we do things in His time. Now blogs are one of the most popular sites around. Keep teaching us about time and seasons. Learned a new word 'eth'. Have a great day and God bless.
Best wishes,

This topic is timely. There is a time to fight actively for what God has planned for us, and a time to quietly wait for Him to open the door and remove the obstacles. Knowing which time you are in might make the difference between moving into your promised land or going around the wilderness again.
Keep it coming Michael! May you be richly blessed as you give so willingly to the Lord's people.

Understanding the \"eth\" is truly key to moving in the Spirit of God.

Mr. Pink,
It's a good word. Further develop it. There is a difference between the \"chronos\" and \"kairo\" (I think it's spelled correctly) time, the word \"eth\" might have something to do with \"kairo's\" time (an appointed time).

Good word Michael!! The Lord gave me a word about fourteen years ago. I was in a board meeting and we were trying to resolve an issue. It involved money and timing. God spoke to me and had me declare to the group \"money is nothing, timing is everything\". By focusing on the timing, the situation was resolved peacefully and in short order. God is good!!!

Makes so much sense Michael. In fact the 'eth' can be discerned from the minutiae of personal lives to the very turning of 'era's' in the spiritual history of man and his times. Is this concept not far more crucial to us as God's representatives than the fading on and off of the sun and moonlight by which we measure 'time'? You are illuminating principles of great importance and placing deep truth before your readers, thank you.
On a personal note, it is greatly disturbing to see an 'eth' forming, discern its significance but be unable to move into it because others will not or have too much fear of change. This too is often a reality. Sigh.
Thank God for grace and love.

several years back THE LORD would begain to warn me of negative & great events that were going to take place.I did not understand at the time so all I knew to do was to pray. as time passed HE began to reveil the outcome to the warnning or blessings in one month - two months-three months- four mounths - six mounths- nine months incraments & some things are still being prayed for..They would coencide with the seasons of th year. What I now know is sin gives birth to its fruit ( James 1;14-15 & 1 Tim 5;24) if it is ours TAKE HEED, but this also effects us when others in authority over us or around us (work/ home/ect. ) are taken away by sin.The same is true for Blessings ( Gal 6;9 & 1Cor 15;58 ) of course there are other seasons.
UNDERSTANDING SEASONS IS NOT FOR THE LAZY OR SLACK ( HEB 11;6 ) TO KNOW THE SEASONS CAN BE GAINED OR IT CAN BE LOST THE CHIOCE IS OURS! I have missed many oppertunities because of lack of decipline in The LORD. IT TAKES GREAT DISCIPLINE OF PRAYER/ FASTING & THE READING OF GODS WORD TO LEARN AND UNDERSTAND KINGDOM PRICIPLES THAT WILL ALLOW US TO RECOGNIZE THE SEASON GOD IS TAKING US THROUGH. PROV 8;34-35 SAYS; BLESSED IS THE MAN WHO LISTENS TO ME. WATCHING DAILY AT MY GATES, WAITING AT THE POST OF MY DOORS. FOR WHO EVER FINDS ME FINDS LIFE, AND OBTAINS FAVOR FROM THE LORD. IT IS HE THAT GIVES THE WISDOM TO DISCERN THE SEASONS.

I received this the other day regarding seasons.. it so spoke to me.. as I am in winter.. nothing speaks to how long seasons are.. the Lord could accelerate the season we are in.. hope you get something out of it like I have..
Author..Cindy Trimm:
\"What God is Saying to Us Now\"
We are living in a prophetic hour where I believe the earth is groaning and travailing for the real sons of God to stand up according to Romans 8:22: \"For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now.\"
God is birthing you out on purpose into purpose. It is my prayer that in this season you will be able to find your purpose and prophetic coordinates. Ecclesiastes 3:1 states, \"To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the Heaven.\" In the natural there are four seasons, but in the supernatural there are five. Since every season was created by God all seasons are good.
The Winter Season
Winter: This is a prophetic season when God gives inspirational thoughts, visions and dreams. This is the season when you should drive your spiritual roots deep through prayer, meditation, worship and praise. This is also a season of rest from the old season and preparation for the next seasons.
I pray that your visions will be solidified and your roots will go deep. If this is the current season you are in, I pray that you will reflect on the past, adjust, and prepare yourself to move on to all God has in store for you. This is a season you will be enrolled into the School of the Holy Spirit.
The Spring Season
Spring Season: This is a season of seedtime: plowing, planting and cultivating your seeds (ideas, visions, financial, relational, ministerial investments, etc.). Make certain you get enough seed in good ground. In this season you will have to fight the enemies of prosperity, and de-weed the fields you are cultivating. You will also have to war against the spirit of abortion designed to prevent purpose in your life from being realized. This is the season for seed-time.
The Summer Season
Summer Season: This is a time of favor; it is a time of birthing, harvesting, sweating, labor and great exposure. Do not fear in this season; do not look to the right or the left, but make up in your mind to PUSH. Push through doubt, push through ill-spoken words, push through the unseen, push through trials, you have to PUSH!
Proverbs 6:6-11 gives us an invaluable lesson on the ant and reminds us that the ant stores up for the winter months in the summer and beginning of fall.
The Fall Season
Fall Season: This is a time when you need grace; you may become discouraged as there will appear to be a reduction of resources. This is a season of clearing away, purging, and getting rid of some things; a season of great sacrifice; a season where you will be required to give up your \"Isaac.\" It is a season for a Job experience—but, I am happy to announce that you will come out and you will come out with more—double.
Due Season
Due Season: This is the season when the harvest from seeds that have been planted in other seasons will be payable on demand! This is a season of decreeing and declaring! A time when you will be synchronized and syncopated to the prophetic will of God. May the anointing of the Sons of Issachar descend upon you this day, empowering you to accurately determine and walk in the timing and season of the Lord.
\"Be not weary in well doing, for in due season, you shall reap if you faint not\"—Galatians 6:9

Here is a nice quote that goes along with your message:
There is a tide in the affairs of men.
Which, taken at the flood, leads on to fortune;
Omitted, all the voyage of their life
Is bound in shallows and in miseries.
On such a full sea are we now afloat,
And we must take the current when it serves,
Or lose our ventures.
From Shakspeare's Julius Caesar Act 4, scene 3, 218–224

Hi Michael
I posted but don't see it here - hopefully I don't do a double:
I'm sending links from Benny Hinn's show with Myles Munroe, talking about the same things you've been talking about:
I encourage you to take a few minutes this weekend to watch these three videos. I'm not sure how long they archive their programs.

As I was reading your latest post on ‘eth’ I knew immediately that the recognition and insight and knowledge of what to do and when to do it is a very important skill to be learned. However, not only is there a skill here, there is also another dimension that is of a spiritual nature. We know time as a clock or calendar displays it. However, God is the creator of time, and therefore, sometimes operates outside our natural understanding of the dimensions of time. Occasionally we see a glimpse of one of these spiritual dimensions of time. After baptizing the Ethiopian eunuch Philip was transported “in no time” in the Spirit from the desert road to Azotus. Sometimes God stops time so we can get to where he wants us to be.
I've been missing out due to the lack of recognizing when to jump into the \"eth\". I long to see the realization of what is rightfully mine through the use of this skill and understanding of God’s ‘eth’.
Keep going! Keep pressing on!
Blessings,
Jim

Wow! This is profound. Feels to me like the grasping of this truth makes the difference between why some people make it and others dont. Some ideas work and others dont. Please share some more and pray that God helps us to be able to recognise times and seasons

Dear Michael,
Please continue. You are touching on foundational truths of kingdom living that seem to have been lost in church teaching, such as the truth that
God' s times and seasons are directly tied in with his will and purpose for mankind on earth. Many scriptures show that God' s will and purpose is to mature and train mankind to participate in carrying out his will and purpose on earth, not as programmed robots but rather as coequals with him in his thinking process. An example of this is when God told Moses he was going to wipe out the nation of Israel because of their rebeliousness and make a new nation from Moses. But Moses protested saying that would give God a bad reputation of not being able to carry though with his plan for Israel to bring then into the promised land. And it seems God agreed with Moses and did not wipe out Israel and he did bring them into the promised land. With Hezekiah, God changed his mind through the prayers of Hezekiah and extended Hezekiah' s life. I believe God changed his mind in these and other cases for the purpose of showing that he respects and concerns himself with what mankind thinks, even when the thinking of man may lead to his death. The commandments (or testimonies) of God are tied in with his will and purpose and must not be separated from his will and purpose. For example, when the commandment says do not bear false witness it must always be usderstood within the context of God' s purpose. When Rahab the harlot bore false witness concerning the Israeli spys who were hiding in her house, it was for God' s purpose to protect the spies that she did so. And therefore, she did not sin in bearing false witness.
In the end, we will all see and understand that it was always God' s will and purpose that all men be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth.
God' s love and respect for mankind and his desire to be involved with our thinking is reflected in the following verse: \"It is the glory of God to conceal a thing but the honor of kings is to search out a matter.\" We are all kings and priests and it seems as if God enjoys playing hide and seek with us just as a father plays hide and seek with his children. All that God requires of us is that we do justly, love mercy and walk humbly with him.

Greetings Sir Pink,
This is certainly a word \"in due season\" and I am finding through your study that I am more in line with God's \"eth\" than I had ever previously imagined. The word through Mr. Thompson in the above post is a good word as well. I, too, have found that God plays \"hide and seek\" with me quite often...and once I realized that He does this as a source of JOY...well, my life really became something grand. Keep up the good work, my brother. You are impacting THOUSANDS for the Kingdom of our Father. You are impacting NATIONS. Blessings to you always.
