Adversity is Coming Your Way

Adversity: Nobody wants it - Everyone gets it. Proverbs says "If you faint in the day of adversity, your strength is small." (Prov 24:10) So what does that tell us about adversity? It's a test. It's not optional. You will be tested. The only question is how will you fare? How are you preparing now for the test? To begin with, it helps a great deal to know that the test is coming. Accept the fact that you will be tested in the form of adversity. I don't care what "religious camp" you are in, you will be tested. You can blame the devil, be mad at yourself or receive it from God. That's another conversation. But rest assured, it will come and by accepting that fact, you are already positioning yourself to come through it. Did you ever have a pop quiz in school? A test you were not expecting? Had you known, you would have prepared, studied, rehearsed, practiced and as a result, done much better. Well, here it is folks, you are about to be tested. I am about to be tested. Regardless of the source of that test, we are about to be tested. Take this warning seriously. And if we are about to be tested, then how do we prepare? I will make this the subject of my next post, but in the meantime; I invite you to post your suggestions and testimonies for the group to enjoy.

Brothers and sisters please find hHereafter the translation of an encouragement which I received from the spirit - (I always record EVERRY word HE speaks with a dictaphone) with regard to adversities and tests in which I am right now - on 2/18/09. I am pretty sure that this can be taken nearly by every believer in a comparable situation - as HE loves us all: (We have been praying in order to find out why and what to do with a lot of pain I have) HIS answer through a sister: \"During all the time of our prayer I see a picture but it is not the last supper. I see him (Jesus) kneeling in the garden of Gethsemane after he had offered the supper to his disciples. I see him struggling and the sweat falling like blood drops to the earth. And he says: 'Father, if it is possible let this cup pass by me, however, not my but your will be done'. And then I see an agel who comes to strengthen him. The angel from heaven. Comes and strengthens him in this hour of the most severe contestation. And the spirit says to me: 'Yes my son also you suffer much because of me. But know: Each time when I have to allow that you have pain an angel comes from heaven to strengthen you. So never lose the courage. Look, he always is available and know: I measure everyting exactly what you can bear and get along with. I have suffered with you, I have accomplished everything for you. Therefore look at me and start to thank me. If distress is most my support is next. Do not be afraid, but be cheerful and confident: The most beautiful is still to come. So speaks the LORD\" To be honest: I am having a lot of pain and it is not always easy, but if I have to visit a client all pain and everything is gone latest when I touch the handle of his entrance door. In fact: NOTHING is impossible with our LORD' - I experience it again and again for years now. Blessings to you all Michael - from Germany

We should all know that without a test you dont have a testimony..Adversity should be viewed as growth both spirtually and naturally. Without growth we die spitually and naturally. Thank God for adversity...It's God's way of building character. Be Blessed in adversity and know God would not bring you to it...if He was not going to bring your through it !!!!

Adversity! It is part of life. It is in direct proportion as is the degree of pride. When I/we live in humility knowing that God uses adversity to bring us to where He wants us to be. \"God is always at work around us, (Henry Blackab).\" Personally, I have gone through a personal time of adversity. It was not without God's work on me to get me to be where I am now. \"But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus, (Phil. 4:19).\" If I believe the Bible and take what I do not understanding in faith, then, I must know that God will do what He says. Therefore, we shall have difficulties, struggles, and adversity. The thought is not, \"will we?\"; the question is \"how will we?\" \"And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work, (2 Cor: 9:8).\" It is one thing to know this to be foundational and established truth, but we must move further to know it when the circumstances of life seem to betray this certainity. Adversity and will happen to the most faithful and true Christian. The refining fires of life are used by God to remove the dross and impurities from our lives. It is not our choice if we have turned our lives over to God. It is necessary to purify us. David Carter

I remember test in school, most of the time the professor prepared us what to study for, and of course the Bible is giving us the same as we prepare for this test. In Ephesians Chapter 6, the armour of God chapter, Pauls tells us in verse 12 \"For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.\" So whoever or whatever you are blaming or recieving be aware of that fact. Also, if you read the rest of the chapter, there is no protection for the back of the body, but instead God wants us to face the attack with all the resources He has provided. God be with us.

Michael, First I want to say thanks for the wealth of heaven continuing to be revealed and I pray that an even greater light of glory would continue to reveal to you the limitless possibilities wrapped up in every molecule of the rain forest. HAHAHAHA! I had an amazing time in praise and adoration of the King this morning and as I reread your post, the Lord dropped in my Spirit, there truly is a day of preparation. There is also, this verse in Isaiah 59:15- So [as the result of the Messiah's intervention] they shall [reverently] fear the name of the Lord from the west, and His glory from the rising of the sun. When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord will lift up a standard against him and put him to flight [for He will come like a rushing stream which the breath of the Lord drives]. Our preparation in praise and worship, living and giving, will enable us to know what to do in the day of calamity. I eagerly await your next post. HAHAHAHA! Brother Ray.

You are so right on Michael, My wife has been on the mission field since April 1, and since she has been gone, I have noticed in my job to be getting the worst jobs I have ever experienced. I am a plumber by trade, but I have never experienced adversity in this way, or at the least I did not recognise the adversity. I have had to really trust in the LORD in this area (financially), as a 1 hour job has turned into 6 hours. I work on a commision, so it is important to do the job quickly and with great care as to not have to go back on a call back. This may seem minute to most but I share this from the heart as it is really discouraging at times. I know it is a test and you just confirm this, but I have learned that the tests come in many ways, shapes and forms. \"For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spritual wickedness in high places.\" Ephesians 6:12; GOD gives permission for these things to happen, but it is to strenghten us and make us a better people. I pray for my wife several times through the day, the enemy does not like this, he comes to kill, steal, and destroy. So he tries to distract me from my wife by putting adversity upon me in my work. This is only an assumption, for GOD has HIS own ways, that one day is with the LORD as 1000 years and a 1000 years as one day. 2 Peter 3:8; I pray that this has not offended anyone, and if I have seemed to just ramble on, please forgive me. GOD bless and have a wonderfull day.

Michael, As our friend Zig Ziglar says, \"Life wouldn't be so difficult if we didn't expect it to be so easy\"! Thanks for your perspective on suffering (and the others on this post). Our 2 1/2 year old daughter is going through chemotherapy for leukemia right now. We keep watching and waiting to see how the Lord will show Himself in all of this. Blessings, Johnny Dasher

To \"prepare\" a bank teller to recognize counterfiet money they simply have them sit in a room for an extended period of time (weeks?) and handle \"the REAL thing\". Would it not seem wisdom to deal with adversity by knowing the truth, our true identity and such, so thoroughly that when the difficulty showed up it was an easy task to recognize the lie in it and deal with it immediately?
Jeff Barrow at 9:29am EDT - April 21, 2009
The reason I say there is a \"lie\" in each adversity, is God does not have to orchistrate such things to teach us anything. We are taught by the Holy Spirit. Adversity will come, but it is a result of the \"fall\". Brokenness exists, for certain, but it was not our Father's design to bring sin or any evil thing into our lives. Adam brought this condition into the earth. However, Jesus reversed it... period... for us who are Born Again. Yes, we encounter, experience, it. But, the real question is HOW we deal with, approach it, that really counts. Are we Royal Sons, the \"Subjects\" of a Royal Kingdom, or are we \"subjects\" of (just subject TO) adversity? What is our real \"ability\" (grace)? The rainforrest, untouched, has all the provision necessary to deal directly with adversity. It can heal itself. Selah.

\"Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God that he will exalt you in due season.\" When I resist adversity (by natural response) my blood pressure goes up, my heart races and there is a pit in my stomach that makes me sick. When I praise Him for everything that touches my life, my bodily functions remain static and healthful. \"In this world you will have tribulation, but be of good cheer (praise filled) for I have overcome the world.\"--Jesus Christ. \"Let everything that has breath,Praise the Lord, Praise ye the Lord.\" \"Let all those that love the Lord, say continuelly, Let the Lord be magnified!\" \"Rejoice and again I say rejoice\"--Apostle Paul. We have two options: better or bitter. Amen.

We are to stand firm with the belt of truth, the breast plate of righteousness and the sandals of peace. Take up your shield of faith, so that you may extinguish all the arrows of the enemy and put on the helmet of salvation and the sword of the spirit, which is the word of God!!!

Staying in the boat is absolutely necessary. Stay in Christ (the anointed one and His anointing). He will get us through anything.

When adversity comes as it will surely come upon every child of God, we should be like the submarine by having more pressure on the inside to counteract the pressure on the outside. It does not matter whatever the adversity since we are assured the He will never allow us to be tempted more than we can bear!!! He in Africa we live and walk by faith because it appears that we are on the frontline for adversity!!! Be blessed and thanks for your regular encouraging mail.

I agree that it's a time of preparation. The ark is the place of refuge and since Jesus is the ark, my job is to abide in Him. I appreciate reading your posts and enjoy the comments as well.

The Bible says that the Wisdom will guard us. We should never ignore the Adversity is coming our way. Remenber that not even a leaf fell of a tree if God doesn't give the permission. I come from those \"religious camps\" that teach that everithing will be allright, and if anything bad happens is the work of the devil. So you just have to rebuke it, ignore your realities because nothing bad is supposed to hapen to you. You just have to Declare and have Faith, because the Lord will do it for you. This is not preparation. This is ignoring what God himself put in us, \"Common Sense\" and Wisdom. \"Look at the ants...\" remember... It is very difficult to prepare for adversity when you are inside of it, and when it come to you by completly surprise, but we have experience a supernatural provision of God in all area of our lifes!!!! God surely allow us to suffer so we can grow toward our purpose in HIM. Adversity is like when we put limits to our kids so they do not get badly hurt, by doing this we are saving them from a worst situation.Be the GLORY to god because we are and we will see HIM walkinf toward us the midst of our storm! If anyone can give us some counsel in what our possition toward trhe \"camp\" should be( please Godly perspectives). This is one of the worst parts of Adversity to handle, being without a pastoral support. They think that we are just beating down by the enemy and that God have everything under control so we just need to beleive. They do not agree that we need to do our part to see God's supernatural power manifested. They think that God will take us out of this like a\" magical act\":now you are, now you do not.... Please advise, God blessed you all!!!!!

This editorial in the Tulsa World was published on Sunday, April 19, 2009: \"Adversity makes some people great.\" by Harvey Mackay. It is worth the read and dove-tails with the commentary from this blog: tulsaworld.com/mackay

I have thought about this moment all my life, as the church I was raised in taught us to be prepared always because God's Kingdom would come as a thief in the night. I believe you are correct in saying that adversity is coming. We may be entering the beginning of the end - the Great Tribulation that Jesus spoke of in Matthew. However, we may not. That still may be a ways off. Adversity is a way of life for most of the rest of the world and has been living all their life. Adversity is something that Americans are not used to, so it is easy to assume this is the beginning of the end, but it may just be the beginning of OUR end, OUR way of life. Not THE END. But either way, we need to prepare for both. We are going to be going through adversity in this country, because we are seeing that our cushy way of life may disappear and we are not used to that idea and many will never except that idea, nor have we ever lived like the rest of the world, either - in abject squalor. How do we respond? We respond as Americans responded when they went through the Great Depression. You do what you have to do to survive. First, is getting into survival mode now by preparing your mindset - spiritually first, through constant prayer. Develop a personal relationship with God and Christ. Since Christ is the ONLY way to salvation (sorry if that offends someone, but the Bible says this), you need to have your spiritual armour on and a defender stronger than the adversity or adversary that is coming (\"....for we have a fight, not with flesh and blood, but with spirit forces in unseen places....\") and let HIM fight for you, if need be. (That takes a lot of faith - to believe He will fight for you, if you ask it of HIM). Secondly, from a material standpoint, IF POSSIBLE, we need to store what material things we have to have to survive at least 8 years (the maximum length of this sitting President). If you own your own home, save enough money to pay your property taxes for eight years. If you have a mortgage, pay it off. If you can't, re-finance it. Now's the time. Pay off all debts and save, save, save. That way, you can at least stay in your own home and ride it out, even if you lose your job and have to stay home. Everyone can find something to work at, even if it means cleaning homes. Service jobs are in great demand. No one likes to give service any more, so service is needed. Can you work on automobiles? Ladies, can you cook, clean, sew, do crafts, rasie and sell fresh vegetables, work part time for a small business, like an attorney, a greenhouse, a nursury (I did)? With savings and a part-time job, you can survive. Sometimes, staying at home is cheaper than working (I did that, too). I know people who have lived in their cars and in campsites and just made stuff to sell to survive. If you have the survival spirit, YOU CAN MAKE IT until better times come around, and they always do. Either we'll make through to the other side through our own efforts or we'll make through to the other side through God and Jesus' wiping out this system and starting a new one. But you have got to think positive and know that your salvation begins with you and the ransom sacrifice of Christ.
Sue Della at 3:07pm EDT - April 21, 2009
We are to stand in the day of adversity. We have been given every weapon we need to stand against what the enemy brings or what life brings our way. Wake up saints the flood has started. Christian found in the emerging church movement will be overwhelmed. The church has become anemic, without influence. Until we admit our failures and our sin against a Holy God we will remain simply victims.

Awesome! What a great perspective. It almost seems crazy, but this is very encouraging! It takes a bit of maturity to accept this truth, but after doing so, it brings peace, and even excitement to be ready to take on whatever is coming, knowing that God can and will provide everything we need to make it through. Great word. I'm excited now...lol
Brian Font at 9:25am EDT - April 22, 2009
I'm excited, too! I can't wait to see God show Himself in what's coming! I think it's going to turn the heads of alot of unbelievers and save alot of lost people!

It's important to know that the God of the universe is your source. Trials come that they might make you strong. If you know that you are God's special person for this special trial. And you know that Every trial already has a \"You Pass\" at the end. You may hurt during the test, but YOU PASS. You may cry during the test, but YOU PASS. You may get angry during the test, but YOU PASS. With God, you're in a WIN-WIN situation. He told us \" All things work together for the Good of them that love the Lord, and who are called according to his purpose!\" YOU PASS AND YOU WIN! AMEN!
Deborah at 3:48pm EDT - April 22, 2009
Absolute surrender to God through the power of the Holy Spirit and maintaining that surrender through faith that He will do it is the key to going through any adversity. \"In this world you will have tribulation\". Read Andrew Murray's book \"Absolute Surrender\"
