"And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit." (Gal 5:24 - 25) I want to share with you a very personal viewpoint of the journey I am on.  I trust it will minister life to you as well as continue to grow inside me. Several weeks ago, my wife embarked on a Phase One diet as shared by Doug Kaufmann at www.KnowTheCause.com. It is highly restrictive for the first 30 days (or longer if you like) in that it prohibits sugar, grains, starches, etc. This is not a weight loss diet, although it is highly effective in that regard. It is to kill off the fungus in your body that you can't see, but it is robbing you of vitality and in some cases, robs you of life itself. (He and others believe cancer is a fungus and with good reason too.) Nonetheless, knowing this would be difficult to execute faithfully, I joined my wife on the same regimen as a way of practically supporting her choice. Of course, I experienced a marked loss of unnecessary body fat and weakening of the cravings to which I had become accustomed to feeding, but something more has emerged which I was not expecting. In tandem with denying our flesh, we also studied the Scriptures together and discovered that as we got used to marginalizing the screaming of our flesh, we began to hear more clearly the gentle, soft voice of the Holy Spirit. The Scriptures have opened up to us in ways we have not seen in all of our time on this planet. Revelation is flowing and we are entering into a higher realm of living. It seems as though denying my flesh its cravings for food, has also weakened its dominance in every other area it was used to getting its way. I did not expect that. Denying my flesh has helped me more easily walk in the Spirit. Not that I have arrived, but I am definitely on the "on ramp" to something better and I feel the anticipation and joy building in me. I look forward to sharing with you more of what He has shown me in upcoming blogs. I believe it will help us all reap an abundant harvest during a time of famine.

What confirmation! I have felt the nudging of the Spirit regarding my eating habits/the flesh/fasting. Your blog on 2009 Mine Refine Wine pierced me through, and this is another admonition. THank you! I receive it.

This is great. I have been on Kaufman's diet and it is good. My husband and I watch his TV programs also. Could this be the fast Daniel was on?

Michael, that is awesome, we have found the same thing, and have done the yeast clean, different version, but same effect.. Hope to connect with you soon...

Michael, that is really cool. I \"rediscovered\" fasting some years ago when reading Richard Foster's classic \"Celebration of Discipline\". Fasting is a spiritual discipline that I (irregularly) practice. I can confirm the power it has to strengthen you spiritually. We find it difficult to act directly on our sinful nature. But by practicing the spiritual disciplines we cooperate with the Spirit and open greater connection with God. I have also experimented with fasting from angry feelings. That was an experience! The spiritual disciplines have been practiced since the early church. They don't get a lot of play in our culture. Thank you for bringing some light to the subject - as you always do!

Michael, Thanks for the interesting side effect that has been a result of the special diet you and Cheryl are both involved with. The Lord can surprise us in many ways. that is truly a blessing for you, your readers and I trust me. Less can be more.

Michael, thank you so much for sharing your journey. It is just what I needed to hear at this moment. I am looking forward to discuss this more with you at the end of February. It is true that when we deny our flesh, I spirit becomes more in tune with what God is saying. I have personally experienced that, much of it also at times of fasting. I immediately went to the website as I am also interested in the health issue. A word in good time! Blessings, Wilhelmien

Isn't it interesting how God often plants the same or similar thoughts in various places of this tapestry called the Body of Christ? I have recently been discovering that I need to fast from impatience in order to hear more of what God is saying to me. In his weekly devotional yesterday, Patrice Tsague, www.nehemiahproject.org, delineated the differences between righteousness and self-righteousness. Thanks, Michael. On point, as usual.

Michael, Absolutely Amazing my friend! Gale and I are experiencing the same results and expanded walk with God as you speak of in this Post. We are realizing and sensing the closeness and undeniable presence of the Holy Spirit in many new and exciting ways. We are realizing answers to extended prayers...seeing our children and grandchildren also 'waking up' to a beautiful new reality as they walk closer to God. There's a 'new wholeness' associated with putting away that which is not only unnecessary, but which has been a limiting life style of personal food lust along with limiting the time we have left to serve our precious Lord. Continue the Journey...you two are not alone! Bob Park

How amazing! The Spirit is pormpting my husband and myself to draw near and focus to what the voice of God is saying, to seek solitude, to fast from noise, to subdue the lusts of the flesh, to look for quietness...almost as if He has something important to communicate and is calling us to 'hear' what the Spirit has to say...and how amazing you and your wife are so 'distant' from us, and still receiving the same message and listening! We are seeking to hear, to be still, to cut off the flesh but how hard it is! But we are in the path. I once again am in owe of our blessed God! May He continue to teach you and guide you. We'll be looking forward to hear what are some things He is sharing with you!

To all of you, your words of support encourage me. Thank you! To Henry Pope... I just want to clarify that Cheryl is our administrator and a wonderful one at that... A true blessing in so many ways. Brenda is my wife whom I am blessed beyond words to share this life with.

Wow!! I did a similiar fast. I fasted for 21 days on a computer program that I frequent and the last week I decided to fast sugars and t.v. I am telling you, it is great. I felt myself \"growing deeper\" in the Holy Spirit. I had conversation with Him (something I have never done before). It is definitely a peace that passes all understanding.. Enoy it.. Love it.. And you will feel the difference.. Love always...

I was recently called by God to turn to Luke 9:22 \"Saying, The Son of man must suffer many things, and be rejected of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be slain, and be raised the third day. 23 And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me. 24 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: but whosoever will lose his life for my sake, the same shall save it. 25 For what is a man advantaged, if he gain the whole world, and lose himself, or be cast away?\" I have been in the process of doing this. It is not a simple one-time event in a person's life. Forsaking all in a process whereby once you have done it; it is complete. The more I allow God to search me; the more I am aware of something I need to forsake. Dr. David Carter

Thank you, I too was strugling with a situation and I felt the Holy Spirit tell me to fast and pray the day before. Every time I thought about the situation or felt the hunger I prayed! The situation has not had a complete resolution, however, I have more clarity and will be fasting in the future days. I did not realize how much more clarity had come until I read your post. I am very thankful for your post and the Holy Spirit working in your life! Trish

Amen Michael. I am preparing a brief powerpoint teaching tentively titled: Fasting for Breakthrough in the Workplace. I will send you a copy when we get it done. We are really missing out by not crucifying the flesh. Jesus and Paul were not playing around with this topic. It is not metaphorical or allegorical. It is the real deal.

Blessed be the Lord Jesus Son of the most High-JEHOVA GOD!! I can only agree that when one denies the flesh, for the very purposes of drawing nigh to God, there can only be an increase in our spirit man with His presence. Its not that we dot have anything within us, for when we became children of God, through Jesus, we received the guarentee of His Holy Spirit. It is clear from brother Michaels Pink's account and every one else on this blog, including my personal experiences, in this regard, that a whole lot of activation and persistance to grow in the presence of the most High, is up to us. His presence, His Grace, Healing and all spiritual blessings was already released, it is us that need to receive them, and walk it out. I once did a Daniels fast, and the annointing manifested during my fast and aslo on the last day of the fast. Once my wife and i fasted for two weeks, and on the 2nd evening, whilst praying, God'd annointing hit my house and His presence was tangibly noticeable. So lets keep on entering the wilderness so God can make a brook(spiritual) in our dry land. Bless all in JESUS Name!! Brother Herold

OK, you've done it again! My husband and I were just talking about this topic last night, saying \"Maybe fasting will help with our situation.\" The Body of Christ truly is connected and every joint supplies - even from the other side of the planet! Thanks Michael.

Thanks Michael for the encouragement to stick with Dougs program. My husband and I have been trying to follow the program but to often find excuses for going off. This is just what I needed to read at this time. God Bless You, Kristi
