I cannot but notice the cynical under-tone of \"Getting the Most from the Least\". As if you're saying \"poor fellas that are cripling under this depression\". About your book \"Rainforest Strategy\" - is it really as foolproof as it sounds? Will anyone and everyone (even in thrid world countries) be able to benefit from this? What if everyone applies the principles you're teaching? I'm sorry for being sceptical about it.

Michael I respect you for what you do and write on this blog, it has been a blessing for me and my business. However I am in disagreement with your comments on this one. I cannot comment on it or make a rebuttal on the context or examples you are using because I am an financial advisor with a mayor brokerage firm and I am prohibited to so. But I can say this; it is important that we approach this issue with care and be particularly sensible not to instill fear upon people, but hope and practical strategies. Also, using the word \"sucker\" is not, in my opinion, the best use of words for this blog. So let's embark in providing practical and beneficial guidance in those areas that we have been called by God to serve in and let His presence give us peace. Dear Carola; Please be assured there is no cynical undertone in Getting the Most from the Least. Not at all. The idea being presented is about efficiency and the elimination or great reduction of waste. In the rainforest, there is high efficiency and zero waste. How that is done and how that translates to business is the subject of the chapter I reference. As for it being foolproof, that is really up to the user, but the principles presented have been working exceptionally well for thousands of years and originated in the way God made things. Hey Danny; I appreciate your comments. I really didn't intend to instill fear. I do believe we are in critical times and we should be wise. There is extraoridinary opportunity at this time. As for the sucker comment, that probably means different things to different people and I really didn't take that into consideration. I appreciate you pointing that out. The point I wanted to drive home is that there is always someone willing to have you and I invest our hard earned finances and our nest egg into something that may well be on the way down. Many times those folks don't care what you lose as long as they win. In your business I am confident that you are walking as a lamb among wolves, being wise as a serpent and harmless as a dove. The wolves that you walk among love to churn accounts and earn commissions coming and going regardless of the risk or expense to their clients. You are not among that group, but there are many who are and they feed on the sheep who cannot discern the times. Having said that, perhaps it is a good time to reinvest into the market. They say there are good deals abounding. After all, Warren Buffet dropped some serious cash into the market of late. For me it reminds me of Black Thursday in 1929 and Richard Whitney who seeing the market tank in double digits by noon started buying stocks at higher than ask price in an attempt to turn around the market. He spent $30 million that day. I'd say that was roughly equivalent to over $1 billion today. The market swung up making the intraday swing some 13%. It was quite a ride. Then Friday was relatively calm until the 12% loss on Black Monday and another 11% on Black Tuesday. I'll bet that people on Friday thought that if ol Richard Whitney is investing $30 million in companies like US Steel, then the market must be safe. Today, many feel that if ol Warren Buffet is investing heavily now, it must be safe. Who knows? Maybe they're right? I'm not ready to swallow that right now, but I could be way off base. Dear Michael, thanks for your response. You know, a lot of times, those things that work in the US don't necessarily work in Africa where I live. We have limited resources, markets and small communities compared to America. And literally spoken, we don't even have much rain, let alone a rain forest, so I guess there's much to learn from your book. I'll try to get a copy of it - things always work differently in Africa.

Hi Carola... You are right in your observation. A lot of things that work in one setting may not work in another. The thing about the rainforest is that it is not an American thing or a Panamanian thing, etc. I believe it is a God thing and can be adopted anywhere. The things that are happening now in the financial markets have a way of revealing where our heart is and where our treasure is. That is not to say there are not wealth-builders such as Danny and others there by God's design. It is to say that what can be shaken, is being shaken, so that what cannot be shaken may remain. I believe for this we must thank God - better now than to go through our whole life living a lie. I've been intrigued lately by the story of David and his mighty men, from 1 Sam 22. I'm beginning to believe that what's going on is actually a preparation for those of us (read: every Christian) with a heart for God who is in tough times. We are being prepared for greater things. \"David left Gath and escaped to the cave of Adullam. When his brothers and his father's household heard about it, they went down to him there. ALL THOSE WHO WERE IN DISTRESS OR DEBT OR DISCONTENTED GATHERED AROUND HIM, AND HE BECAME THEIR LEADER. About four hundred men were with him.\" 1 Sam 22:1,2 These men became David's mighty men. They were taken by God and developed into a fighting force and I believe God wants to do that with us. I've also looked at what David did during his difficult times. In almost every instance, it says that when something came up, David inquired of the Lord. Sometimes he inquired of the Lord more than once, even after hearing God's response the first time. I believe we need this attitude and approach, ESPECIALLY during this time. It's one thing to get information - be it of what potential attack may be on the horizon, or what's going on in the financial markets. Our's is not to react in a panic or in fear. It's to inquire of God, and listen to what He says, and strengthen our walk with Him. He might tell us one day to invest in something and the next day to take it out of that invesment. Principles are good and needed as they guide us, but at the end of the day, we need God's application of those principles to guide us to where we need to be and that only comes through relationship with Him. Warren Buffett's a smart guy, but he's been wrong before , and quite frankly (and I'm not trying to denigrate him in any way, or throw stones at him), but he appears not be a Christian, as his views on many issues are fairly liberal.
