Dominate Your Sphere

“And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the earth, and subdue it:” Gen 1:28 You’ve just read the best summary of a business model I’ve ever read. I know some of you got hung up on literalism as if I were somehow suggesting otherwise. Let me be clear, I take the Scripture literally where intended to be literal and allegorical where we are told the text is allegorical as in many of the parables Jesus told. What I am doing here is encouraging you all to look at a passage of Scripture that is meant to be taken literally and then ask what other applications can be taken from it. For example, what is leaven in the Scripture? Is it something good or bad? It’s both. Jesus used leaven to describe the hypocrisy of the Pharisees and to describe the growth of the kingdom of God. So while I understand that being fruitful in the above text is a directive to procreate, it can also be applied to creating anything. In business, that could be a product or service. If so, make sure it’s good. Then multiply and distribute it (fill the earth). But how far should you go? May I suggest you subdue your market? That’s the fourth phase. Bring it into subjection. Dominate your sphere. Your sphere doesn’t have to be large, but whatever sphere you are operating in, make it your goal to have dominion in that sphere.

Mike: Very encouraging words this morning! Sometimes \"dominate\" can take on a negative connotation, as if we are being \"greedy.\" Even as Christians in the workplace, we should strive for success. Provided that success is God's Will for our efforts and not made out to be an idol. The glory is His, always. Thanks.

This was a great article. The word says that \"whatever we do in word or deed, do all for the glory of God\" I believe our businesses should reflect his glory in what we are producing as well as our service. In fact often it is the service that we give that causes us to be set a part from the others!

While being fruitful and multiplying can be taken literally, if we look at the broader picture will be see that it can easily apply in business and more importantly does not, in my view, contradict scripture as a whole. I am careful not to apply meaning where it is not intended but in this case it is worth consideration. This is a hopeful message and one that I have not heard before. Many small business owners feel like orphans in this world and when we can apply hopeful message to our lives that keeps us going then I consider that a blessing from above. The whole message being presented by Michael is one of hope and I am very thankful.

truth..:)...Gods Word reveals so much in soooo many different areas and issues in life...Jesus has been saying the word \"multiply\" to me a lot..(I'm just beginning my biz journey..gathering the tiny fragments to make it happen, trying not to dispise small beginnings...) and God keeps highlighting in a way by the holy spirit the verses that speak of the miracles of multiplcation done by Jesus upon the Earth. I am really enjoying this information. I am new to the Crown 'concept' & I am wondering if there is a 'business group' in the Scottsdale, Az area that might be meeting and designing their renewal efforts around this 'model'. Thanks and Godspeed!

Michael I am wondering if you or David Johnson have created a kind of workbook or group study book on these principles so that even the unschooled among us can create our own study group. Tom's question and search for a group caused me to ask. I have listened to David's five session CD's on the topic about 6 times through and thought they would make a great group study. He brings such provocative 'meat' to the table and I will continue to listen until I have drained every last drop of juice out of the message. Thank you so much for making this a great Christian business forum.
