This is What Happened – I Thought You Would Want to Know…
By
September 10, 2008I just came back from Austin, Texas where I was speaking at the Kingdom Economic Conference with friends like Rich Marshall, Os Hillman, Kent Humphreys, Lance Wallnau, Myles Munroe, Doug Spada, Tamara Lowe and over a dozen others I was meeting for the first time. It was rather like a cruise ship with a continual buffet of all your favorite foods. It was more than any one person could take in. There was a contingency there from Wasilla, Alaska joyfully sharing with us the credibility and authenticity of Governor Sarah Palin who they know very well and were eager to affirm to us as the “real thing”. In fact, they will be presenting our Psalm 91 book to the Governor and her son Track before he deploys for Iraq this week. Like many I met, I was unsure of what to expect at such an event that ran from 8:30 in the morning till 10:00 or 11:00 each night. I did have the distinct privilege of meeting many of you there in person, from Switzerland, Canada, Bahamas and from all over America and I was indeed grateful for that opportunity to connect a face with a blog entry… (o-: What I experienced at the event was an awesome sense of community within the body of Christ and in particular with you. Some of you told me how wonderful it was to meet others with whom you had communicated on this very blog and shared so much in common. I received advance copies of my new book Rainforest Strategy on Friday and they were snapped up before I could even speak about it! I will be introducing it to you when inventory actually arrives at my office. Probably the biggest thing to come out of the conference for me was the importance of community and an awakening in me of how I can connect with you more directly and help you become the marketplace champion that is already encoded in your spiritual DNA. I am seeking the Lord daily now on just how to facilitate that and a blueprint is beginning to emerge which I hope to share with you later this month. Lastly I want to say we live in unprecedented times during an historic election that has riled up the forces of evil like I’ve never seen before. The mountain of government is being challenged by a righteous woman who was selected by John McCain. The fact that he chose her shows me God is working in his heart too. Be vigilant. Be prayerful. Be discerning. God Bless you all!

We need to remember that God is not a Republican or a Democrat. People in both parties have a deep personal relationships with Christ. All fall short but all who accept Christ are covered by his grace even when we don’t agree on all the issues. I pray that ALL our leaders respond to God and look for his direction in their decisions and actions. We can speculate about Mr. McCain's reasons for his VP pick, but none of us really knows his heart. Those, like Ms. Palin, who profess Christianity have a great responsibility to represent our faith. When she tells mis-truths including her support for the \"bridge to no where\" it reflects poorly on all Christians and creates a stumbling block for non-believers. We need to remain focused on advancing God's work in the world not supporting a particular party.

Sarah Palin is the real deal. My sister & brothers lived in Alaska & went to the same church as Sarah when they were children. They all say that she is an amazing woman that is ready for Washington. I feel she has been selected by the Lord for \"such a time as this\" in history. It's going to be exciting to see how this new twist in the election process will play out according to the Lord's will. She will be one heartbeat from becoming the first woman president of the United States. Plus, she's a believer!! She gives me hope that America will remain \"One nation, under God\". ....not one nation under allah!
Pray, people, pray that Obama's TRUE identity & agenda will be revealed before we go to the poles to vote. He has too many connections to evil people & that makes me very concerned for our nation.
Our prayers are of utmost importance at this time in history. So pray much.

I understand that we each have our own seperate views and opinions on this political race, but I do not believe that it is right for spiritual leaders to use their position of authority(i.e. pastor, mentor, advisor) to influence the people. As a spiritual leader I believe that you have to reamin bipartisan for the this reason. We are here to save souls regardless of there political preference. If I was a fanatic democrat, by reading the last passage of this article, you would have lost my support. As spiritual leaders and christians, our job is to save souls regardless of which side of the political fence you stand on. Therefore I feel we must remain focused on the bigger picture of saving souls and not allow our personal views or opinions hinder that.

Make sure you do your own research and don't rely on the media for your information. Decide for yourself if it's a \"mistruth\" based on what you KNOW - not what you've been told. I'd like to point out that a candidate who supports abortion as radically as Obama does reflects poorly on Christianity and serves as a stumbling block as well. You can't blast one side and tell the rest of us not to pick sides.....
Lorisa at 1:49pm EDT - September 10, 2008
I totally agree with John that we need to remember that God is not a Republican or a Democrat. I am the Senior Pastor of a Church is the disenfranchised South Bronx of New York City. Our Church feeds over 300 people every week and our community have suffered tremendously under this administration for the last eight years. We have lost many black young men in Iraq and many have come back to the drugs and crimes of the Bronx - as pedlers and pimps. Reading your last article made me want to disconnect from receiving your mail but then again I percieve that all of us as leaders can make mistakes. It is a great mistake on your part to be partisan and far right. The Republican party is not the party of Jesus Christ and we Christians are not called to be the trumpet blowers of that party. Inside of taking sides, we must invade both parties and influence the leaders of this both parties to embrace Christ and become the pursuers of people. Being a war monger or sending a son to Iraq or wearing the uniform of any branch of the armed forces does not make one more patriotic than any other person. Indeed we must remember always that people in both parties have a deep personal relationships with Christ and have great (unalloyed) love and support for this country.
Yes, indeed, we need to remain focused on advancing God’s work in the world not supporting a particular party. We are not ignorant of the devices of Satan especially that of dividing the Church into racial, party and bigoted divisions. A word is enough for the wise. God bless America.
Prof. M. Joe Omeokwe at 2:15pm EDT - September 10, 2008
This country has lost many young men of EVERY color in this war - and young men of EVERY color have come back to hardships. It's interesting that the posts chastising for taking sides are very definitely taking a side.

Dear Michael,
Yes, yes to all you said about the Kingdom Economic Summit in Austin this past week. I was so blessed, equipped, envisioned and confirmed in my own vision for my Kingdom business. And it was such a joy to finally hear and meet you after being enriched by your work and ministry for a good while-and I was doubly joyed to get one of the last copies of your new Rainforest book there. I also appreciate the way you signed it-which was part of your spoken message: \"Pursue God\". Though my heart is for the Kingdom in my business, and though I believe breakthrough for it is imminent, it hasn't yet manifest and I realized I was getting anxious and sleep-deprived. And I realize deep inside despite knowing I must depend on God and His Spirit was the feeling that all depends on me. So the Lord spoke through you and other avenues to say to me, \"Slow down, pursue Me, walk in union with my rest, power, strenght, guidance, victory, and enjoy and have fun with Me and what you are doing.\" And I've got that in writing-what your wrote in my book. :) So thanks again Michael for all you do, blessings on you and your family. And let's encourage Bruce to do the Summit again next year.

This is exactly why one who's spiritual guidance and advice is sought should not show favor to one side or the other in any circumstance. The entire message of the article has been overshadowed by the exalting of Sarah Palin. It is not our place to say who God has selected to lead our country, but rather to ask God to bless the person our country chooses to lead it.
A-Jay Orr at 3:32pm EDT - September 10, 2008
Michael, although I am a registered Republican, it disappoints me that you would use Selling Among Wolves as a platform for \"the party.\" Maybe I would feel differently if Senator McCain kept true to the Republican values.
As a woman, I am extremely pleased that America is embracing the idea of a woman being in the White House. From little we know about Sarah Palin, she's not an ideal Republican either. After all, how can a man rule a city when he can't rule his own house?
While I believe Christians should be actively involved in politics, don't separate the flock.
Toni Butler at 3:42pm EDT - September 10, 2008
Just read some of the previous comments after leaving my own, and felt I should briefly comment. OUr prayers are with the Bronx pastor who saw some of their men lost. And yes, God is neither Democrat or REpublican, He is the King of Kings and Lord of Lords, and His Kingdom is above all, and all of us who have received Christ and are born again are His children and brother and sisters to each other. And we can have different convictions about politics and yet remain One in Him. However, to those who say Christians shouldn't be involved in politics with all do respect are unsuspectingly touting the doctrines of the aetheists and ACLU anti-God crowd who want to remove every Christian reference and influence from every institution in society-and thereby strip our nation of the Christian foundations upon which our almost every Christian Founding Father said our freedoms and institutions are based and without which our nation cannot survive. And our Founders stressed that not only was our nation founded on Christ and the Bible, but that Christians must be involved in the political process in voting and running for office-in fact the first Supreme Court Chief JUstice said we should prefer Christians for our elected officials. I would encourage those who are not aware of this to read DAvid Bartons book, Original Intent which voluminously cites the Founding Father's Christian values in their words and documents.
And this is not to reprimand anyone who thinks differently, God wants His Kingdom reign over every institution of society whether government, family, busines, education, etc. For only then will we experience His blessings and favor and such tragedies as the sincere pastor in Bronx be avoided.
But specifically, no, it's not the party per se, it's the principles that determine whether a candidate-not a party en masse-should be supported. Do they sincerely have convictions based on Biblical values to hold sacred and protect all life from the womb to the grave, do they support laws that protect and not undermine the family, the building block of society, do they support in truth God's gift of free enterprise that alone can produce the material blessings for all people vs socialism and looking to the government to provide all the answers, do they support laws which encourage private giving and help toward poverty that genuinely help vs socialism which in the name of helping impoverishes all, and proper and balanced stewardship of the earth to name a few. And yes, as the Bible says seek peace if possible but we must recognize that while war must be avoided if at all possible, sometimes the dangers of evil in our world necessitate what early Christians called the Just WAr Theory-such as eg the necessity of the American Revolution to found our nation, opposing the evil tyrant of Hitler in WWII, and yes, today the threat of radical, militant Islam in our day which is our WWIII perhaps and which threatens our very civilization. Sadly some well-meaning people do not understand the Biblical concept that evil exists, nor the global aspirations of radical Islam via the sword.
With reference to Sarah Palin, again as Christians we can agree to disagree agreeably, but probably millions of we Bible believing Christians have been concerned about the convictions and principles of both Presidential candidates and the other VP. We saw little hope for God's heart to defend the unborn, and protect the family and restoring our nation to God (which of course is more dependent on a New Great Awakening). But again with Sarah Palin-the issue is not the party but a woman who has shown in word and deed that she indeed has strong Christian character and principles. and at the Conference referred to we heard from men and women who know her personally and could vouch for her. So while good righteous government alone cannot save America if the people do not return to Him, it is essential. And again, those of you who say party is not the issue-I agree, principles are. And so I would encourage those on both sides to consider which candidates express convictions and principles that God has revealed through His Word that are most-conducive to the peace, blessings, and prosperity for all citizens of our great nation regardless of party or beliefs. Again, I would encourage folks to check out DAvid Bartons book, but consider what James Madison, the father of our Constitution said in essence, \"We have based our experiment in freedom, not on government, but on the capacity of the people to govern themselves according to the Ten Commandments of God\"
Peace and blessings to all of you,
Van

Careful Brother Pink. I believe our first vote should be the Kingdom of the Lord Jesus Christ - not McCain/Palin or Obama/Biden. Sarah seems to be the only legitimate believer among the three men - however, I sense she was chosen for politcal expediency only. If McCain wins, he will be the president not Sarah. She appears to be a token for votes of the disinfranchised Hillary Clinton voters.
Let us pray - Lord, thy kingdom come - thy will be done - in earth as it is in heaven. We need to pray for God's will - not according to our pocketbooks. There are major areas we can find ourselve (in the flesh) disagreeing with both Obama and McCain. It is sad how many believers are being influenced and led by the candidates rather than the Holy Spirit.
May I suggest that you use your website to teach Kingdom principles and not to support either candidate.
Blessings

How can any professing Christian NOT choose a particular party. I know that people have different viewpoints about how are Gov needs to operate but how can you follow a party that supports abortion and gay rights? Do I sense some luke warm Christians? Jesus said that He would spew thee out of His mouth. (Rev 3:16) The only perfect leader to rule will be Jesus when He returns. Untill then we are to do what he instructs us to do, and that by no means, can be interpreted to follow the Democratic party. We DO have to be the salt of the world and we DO have to elect a president that is willing to follow Gods commandants. It is our duty. BUT one must also remember that God is in control and His will is what will carry on. Read back into the old testement when Israel wanted a King to rule over them. Remember Saul? Sometimes a hardened nation will get what the people want. That is why it is important to pray first, then be willing to get your light out from under the bushel, and teach others what is going on in the political parties. I cant see why any saved Christian, who has the Holy Spririt dwelling in them, dont feel the conviction to rally behind the better party.
Jeremy at 6:20pm EDT - September 10, 2008
And the Lord shall have authority over all goverment and all of our leaders. It will be who the Lord chooses and for his purpose for our nation---and if Obama is chosen---it may be for reasons unknown to us--maybe because it is time for God's wrath on our nation. So we who want to heal our nation and restore it's \"under one God\" foundation, we need to pray and pray ferverantly for McCain and Palin to win this election!!!
Kristy Orison at 6:37pm EDT - September 10, 2008
I believe some of us are missing the whole points. No one is arguing with any point of view that the Republican party is not the party of God neither are we saying the McCain and Palin are the anointed candidates of God - the Messiahs that will end abortions in America. They possess the power even to make the Church in America take over this corrupt system and end all that are wrong with America. These are not the issue at stake. Left to me, every Christian should vote Republican to avoid all the name calling and to convert America to pure Christinianity. That's fine with me but all we are saying is that when we read Michael, it is grossly disappointing not to read an edifying piece on how to use effective Kingdom principles and tools in taking over this earth through the market place.
No matter the arguement, the foundation of our lives are different. Some of us have survived lynching in the South, Jim Crow laws and endured all kinds of racial abuses that makes us as Christian not to look to any political party as our means of salvation here on Earth. But to encourage all to vote their conscience and expectation. All we are saying is this, let us get about our Father's business and like Jesus Christ refuse to be dragged into the partisian politices of the day so that our witness for Christ is not marred or misunderstood even by the radical Moslems or those who hate America. We must have a message for all no matter their political leaning. Let us learn to render unto Caesar all that is his and learn to render unto God all that is God. Let us stick to the Kingdom business, Michael, in your forum and for the sake of your admirers and supporters stay out of partisan politics. Again, a word is enough for the wise.

I am wondering how this blog got so out of hand?? The title of his Michael's blog was \"this is what happened, I thought you would want to know\" NO where does he endorse a candidate, tell us how to vote!! He also says that a blueprint is coming in which he will share the connection next month, well, let him do that!!!!
Michael says nothing about politics except to say how excited he was to know that Sarah Palin is the real thing. No, she is not the Presidential candidate, however, if something happens to McCain, she would indeed be the President, so it is a very important choice. I, for one, was bowled over by her poise, charisma, and her guts. I believe she is an asset to the ticket. Of course, our job as christians is to pray that the candidate that is God's choice will prevail. If we truly want HIS will to be done on earth, then this is the only way we can pray. We then have to put feet to those prayers and go out and vote.
I welcome a candidate that is PRO-LIFE, PRO-ISRAEL, and PRO-GOD...and if you think that is wrong, then maybe you should look at the tenants that our founding fathers stood on, and it had to do much with the knowledge that if God isn't in this, it will fail. We only have to look at the current state of our nation to see how far away from that we have come.
I will end this as Michael did, pray and discern, and God Bless!! Bea Balvin, Dublin, OHIO

I find it interesting that most of you who say you are Christians request that everyone keep their mouth shut about politics. If you havent realized it yet, keeping our mouths shut is what has this country in the shape its in. Its heartbreaking to see people rally togather in protest to wars, to gather in the thousands to protect the enviorment, and to rally in protest to some new tax or law that would upset our pocketbooks, but when it comes to serving Jesus and standing up for Him and what he has done, everyone requests to remain silent. Thank you Michael Pink for expressing your beliefs on this fourm. Please continue to express your views to the world no matter what people say or think. Please use this forum to share Gods word in any way He leads you to whether it be about finances or politics.

Hello all...
I appreciate the dialog. For the record, I have never been enthused about either of the major political parties. In fact, they seem to be two wings on the same bird. I think however that all of us would like to have authentic, righteous candidates running for office and I thought you might want to hear about a first hand report I received. I am not saying that God has picked Sarah Palin, nor am I suggesting who you should vote for. I am however for the first time in my life, optimistic about a person running for political office.
Like some of you, I have wondered if she was chosen for political expediency, but we have no way of knowing at this time. She is a strong woman of strong faith and may very well influence her new boss for good. I am hopeful. Vote for who you want.
On this blog we shall disagree. That is a given. And that's OK. I love my wife more than anyone on the planet and she feels the same about me - and we disagree on things from time to time. If one differing viewpoint makes you leave the discussion, I find that sad. It is through the respectful exchange of differing viewpoints that we grow and learn. Frankly, the viewpoint that leaders should keep their opinions to themselves is one that I disagree with. I think leaders should use their influence for good. The fact that some of you disagree makes me reach deep within to understand why it is I feel the way I do, not to mention to better understand why you feel the way you do.
At any rate my brothers and sisters, I just wanted to weigh in and thank you for investing your time and heart to pass on your perspective on matters of importance and interest. You are a blessing to me!
Michael Pink at 5:47am EDT - September 11, 2008
I also attended the economic kingdom summit in Austin last week. I can confirm that this summit was everything Michael said it was and more.
I thank God I was able to meet Michael and many others I did not even know existed, who are very active in proclaiming and promoting the kingdom of God as Jesus and his disciples have been doing ever since he began his ministry 2000 years ago saying \"Repent, for the kingdom of God is at hand.\" God has revelaed to me and others that when John the Baptist, Jesus and his diciples called for repentance, they were saying change your way of thinking from the selfish, dishonest way the world thinks to the unselfish, sharing, honest and loving way God' s kingdom thinks. The good news (gospel) of God' s kingdom is that God Himself is renewing human minds so they will be able to repent and think in a loving manner as God's kingdom citizens think. As Isaiah 9:7 says, \"The zeal of the Lord of Hosts is performing this!\"
I was very peased to hear Lance Wallnau make the distinction between this gospel of the kingdom and the gospel of salvation that most churches still preach and teach. The problem with so-called gospel of salvation is that it is focused on the afterlife instead of the here and now life that the gospel of the kingdom is focused on.

Not sure about Palin either and definitely not in favor of McCain or Obama either. America really needs a born again believer to lead. Even professing Christians going to church do not really qualify as true believer. Only a person who is born again and walking with the Lord truly qualifies. Anyway we need to look to the Lord for leadership and guidance and not a human being even if it is the president of the US.
moserw at 8:41am EDT - September 29, 2008
Hi moserw...
I agree with you. Being born again is not enough. As Jesus said, unless one is born again, they cannot even see the kingdom of God, let alone enter in (John 3) Basically, that puts us on the team, but does not qualify us to be in the game so to speak. I am referring to governing a nation. If one hopes to govern well, they need to understand and actually practice walking with the Lord as you have said.
Michael Pink at 9:16am EDT - September 29, 2008
Sorry I am just reading this post today Michael, (10/4/08) and I loved your last paragraph on Sarah Palin and prayer that is needed for her and this election. I feel that we ALL must be praying proactively in these last 31 days for the McCain/Palin ticket because as you said the forces of evil have never been stronger against us. God Bless you and all who are reading this.

I prayed about and had high hopes for Bush 8 years ago like many here for Ms. Palin. I thought Bush was a Christian too. I will never ever be taken in again. How could I along with so many be so fooled? Lets not go down that same road with Palin again please. All I know is Bush and his followers in congress have the blood of innocent people on their hands and he lied to us about the war, that is a major major thing. Also abortions are legal still. So how can anyone say this is the party for Christians, that I just don't understand. My newly formed hope for this country went down the drain when Dr. Paul was not chosen. Look at his voting record in Congress and what he has done for Texas. He is about the only one that I can say seems to be a Christian and we didn't see to it that he made front runner. I will have nothing to do with the two main parties ever nor will I be fooled by their lies ever again.
Maybe some of you have heard the news about Palin and her abuse of power issue over the weekend. Lets face it, to get to be in a position of power in this country at this time one must of had to make many compromises and maybe even worst. So it didn't surprise me when I heard it on BBC news and then on CNN.
In conclusion, my hope is not in our government as it has just grown out of control but in our Lord. I will however keep speaking out and not be so lead by people who just want power and money.
Daria at 9:00am EDT - October 13, 2008
Daria,
I understand your frustration - believe me. But may I point out?.... Show me a politician that didn't use their position for personal gain - Palin's infraction just doesn't bother me much considering what others have done. Abortion will never be illegal...that breaks my heart...but I believe it to be true. However, one of the candidates is as far left as you can get in supporting it.
My final point is - you said you would have nothing to do with either of the main parties. Well, one of those two parties will take office in January and I believe there is a clear choice for Christians. No - it's not a great choice - but speaking as a Christian - he's head and shoulders above the other choice. It scares me that so many Christians have decided not to participate this year because they don't like the choices. If enough of us take that stance, I guarantee you the wrong man will take that office.
Lorisa at 9:53am EDT - October 13, 2008
Daria/And all who may be reading these posts,
Gov. Palin's supposed abuse of power is so small in comparsion to how the media is making this a front page item. The fact that her brother-in-law was so abusive to Gov. Palin's sister and nephew is the real story here. The media is looking to distroy this lady and will continue to attach her for as long as she is in the spotlight.
We all need to open our eyes and see the other candidate for who he is. Many parts of his life have been shielded and protected from us by the media. Remember back before the elections in 2000 how it was made know of then Gov Bush's past alcoholic problems. We were given so much information on that in the last days of the 2000 elections. But we can't talk about past relations on William Ayers for Senator OBama? No time in the history of our wonderful country has the media been so one-sided in its reporting and preferring a canidate. I could go on and on sighting other examples. I think we must look at the world as a whole (what is going on in Isreal/Iran/Russia and if the mideast explodes and Russia continues its quest for oil and power (Russia just tested a missle launch over the weekend from one of their subs that reached the middle of the Pacific) who do you want running the country? Do you want the most inexperienced, left leaning liberal of modern history handling this or someone with experience and with a running mate who is God-Fearing and if you listen to many Christian's blessed and annointed by God to take her position as VP.
Please pray for not for change in this country but for God's mercy on this land and that He would put the right person for a time like this in charge.
Blessings.

I dont want this to turn into a political debate. Some info for you and Mr. Pink. I did a google on Ms. Palin and found so much info on her and found a recording of her speech to a graduating class at a AOG school. It is scarey if you are anti war. Google Sarah Palin and Joel's Army. She is a radical and a dangerous person as is others who are running but she is using the Christian card. I do not believe God wants us to kill in His name nor have holy wars. She is on the edge and I will not vote for a nut like her. Maybe I will vote and need to do more research on the other parties eg. for a Baptist preacher on the Constitutional party or Bob Parr. Do your homework that is all I am saying. Do not go on what others say. Mr. Pink I hope you rethink this. I don't think or believe she is the real deal. Look at her real beliefs.
Daria at 1:40pm EDT - October 13, 2008
Daria,
How do you know she is not the real deal----you do not know a persons heart---only the Lord is able to judge that!!! I think it is really sad that your so called homework has lead you to beleive what you are feeling about her, when alot of the information out there is fueled by this country's liberal minded media and all they want to do is destroy her.
I heard the greatest message last Friday from Charles Stanley and the bottom line of all that is happening in our nation right now is summed up in 2Chron 7:14---\"If my people who are called by name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, will forgive their sins and heal their land!!!\"
I think we all as Christians have a responsibility to examine our own hearts, turn from our own judgemental, self-centered ways and humbly pray for God's will for this country.
Kristy Orison at 1:55pm EDT - October 13, 2008
Daria,
This is the most crucial vote in our lifetime and certainly in our childrens lifetime. I hope you're googling the other side as much as Palin - there are some horrific statistics on that side. War is a horrible thing - but many more lives are lost to abortion. May I point out that a vote for anyone other than the 2 who could occupy that office is no vote at all.
Lorisa at 1:56pm EDT - October 13, 2008
Daria,
I do think your missing the point and your judgement of Gov Palin is not correct. Look at record in the state of Alaska. Please tell me what Senator Obama has down in the Congress as well as the state level. A vote for Bob Parr or anyone else for that matter is a vote for Barak Obama. I can't wait for the conversations we will have in the months to come if he is elected.
Jim
Jim Krejci at 2:19pm EDT - October 13, 2008
I don't even want to think about those conversations!!
Lorisa at 2:23pm EDT - October 13, 2008
Through all of the discussion the one thing that is being forgotten is the fact that Palin is not on the top of the ticket, John McCain is. So much attention is being focused towards her when in all actuality she plays a limited subordinate role in the grand scheme of things. I believe both sides have good points and bad points, both are far from perfect. I believe that the thing we as Christians HAVE to do is pray for this country and our leaders. The founding father's established our country based on Godly values and we have gotten so far away from that. God used to be at the heart of our country and all that we did and now in respect for the masses, we have taken God out of everything. I'm not putting my faith in either candidate. I'm putting my faith in God and Trusting that His Will be done and that regardless of who takes office that He Bless that person. Times are rough now and they are only going to get worse. So rather then bickering over this party or that party, just continue to pray that God's Will be done. Ask Him to Bless our great nation and CARRY us through these times and give us the vision to see the lesson that we are supposed to learn from all of this, the knowledge to understand that lesson and the wisdom to teach our youth so that they don't repeat our mistake.
A-Jay Orr at 3:24pm EDT - October 13, 2008
A-Jay - I agree with most everything you said, but don't you agree that we as Christians MUST stand against a candidate that is most decidedly NOT Christian? I will NOT vote for a man who states that he believes there is more than one way to the Father. Jesus Christ is the ONE and ONLY way and I will, as a Christian, tell every person who will listen to me not to vote for him and why. For me it's a very clear choice and nothing in me says that goes against the Father's will.
Lorisa at 3:41pm EDT - October 13, 2008
I agree!
Jim Krejci at 3:58pm EDT - October 13, 2008
Lorisa- I completely understand your views and concerns, but the truth of the matter is regardless of who wins, our country needs to get back to God. That doesn't happen based on who is office, that happens with the masses. Our society has become so accepting of things that we need a lot of help. The days of holding fast to Christian values and morals has fallen to the wayside. The change in our countries values and morals needs to start at the bottom and work its way to the top instead of vice versa. Our government was based on the ideology of \"by the people for the people\". So that is where I believe change needs to begin. Therefore, I will pray that God carries us through this mess regardless of who wins and continue to lead others to Christ and hope through that we get back to the Godly principles that our society has lost sight of.
A-Jay Orr at 4:20pm EDT - October 13, 2008
I couldn't agree more that we need to get back to God - but if you put a man in office who stands directly against God - things will get worse, not better. So many people look to the leadership of this country. That's why it's so important for Christians to band together and keep the wrong man OUT of office. A-Jay, I pray God will carry us through this mess, too, but I don't believe He will do it without some participation from us.
Lorisa at 4:27pm EDT - October 13, 2008
I believe that the Lord hears our prayers and concerns and He will answer them. The only participation He asks from us is to obey and follow His word. As long as we continue to do that, the Lord will carry us through any hell. My biggest fear is that we as a society will become so loose with our beliefs, behavior and acceptance of everything that we become another Sodum & Gomorra.
A-Jay Orr at 4:43pm EDT - October 13, 2008
I believe that too, A-Jay and that was the kind of participation I meant. Unfortunately, I listen to people every day who profess to be Christians justify their support of the candidate who I truly believe will remove God from even more than what's He's already been removed from. We, as Christians, have got to stand against that! All I can say is I will continue to pray for His wisdom - but I believe He's already answered me in this matter. Blessings, A-Jay
Lorisa at 5:04pm EDT - October 13, 2008
I will continue to pray as well. I am just so surprised to see the Christians not supporting this ticket. I agree with earlier posts that I was not excited to have Sen. John McCain as the republican nominee but when he picked Gov. Palin my heart leaped for joy. We actually have a modern day Esther in Gov. Palin and in my opinion the Christian turnout should be the most ever in history for this woman and this ticket. The polls look terriblew right now as I write this. The media and Dems will lead you to believe it is all over but I do believe on Nov 4th God will deliver Esther. This race is not over, mark my words but the Christians must rise up on Nov 4th for this ticket even more so than in 2004.
Again Blessings to you all. Jim
Jim Krejci at 10:39pm EDT - October 13, 2008
First let me be clear that I oppose Sen. Obama's beliefs regarding same sex marriage and abortion. I cannot support these under any circumstance. Secondly, I have been registered as a Republican for years. Third, I am black. Through all this, I try not to be offended by the continual implications that failure to support Sen. Obama makes me a traitor to black Americans and that failure to support the McCain/Palin ticket is less than Christian. I do not support Senator Obama, Senator Biden. They embrace policies that clearly find opposition in scripture. I do not support Senator McCain or Governor Palin. I believe he is hypocritical and will say and do whatever it takes to get elected, and Gov. Palin is the poster child designed to lure what is seemingly desperate conservatives. By no means is Sara Palin an Esther.
Christians have lost their true focus - Jesus Christ and His Kingdom (Matthew 6:33). Instead, we have bowed at the feet of Democats and Republicans. We have erroneously demonized Democrats and diefied Republicans. I do not believe God is impressed with either party.
I do not know what the outcome of this election will be, but I do know that Jesus is still Lord. I do believe - regardless of the outcome - that believers need to return to the Lord (2 Chronicles 7:14). If Senator McCain or Senator Obama is elected, neither will be an asset to the Kingdom of God. They can however be tools God will use to bring His purposes to the earth. We need to get back to the basics which is to pray for God's will to be done, and then be willing to submit to that will (Proverbs 21:1; 1 Timothy 2:1-3). Unfortunately, too many equate God's will as personal comfort.
Finally, I believe God is setting up the scenerio where we will find no solace or peace outside of Him.
I Call You Blessed.
Tim

The poster child? Gov Palin is the one glimmer of hope I've seen in this election. A God fearing woman who's not afraid to speak what she believes. I hate that where Obama is concerned, if you don't support him, you're either a traitor or a racist. I too want nothing but God's will for this nation - but I don't believe that absolves me of my responsibility to vote. I don't understand the thought process that \"I don't like anybody running, so I'm praying for God to handle it\". Now is NOT the time for Christians to bow out. We should be speaking up at every opportunity. I've got nothing against getting on our faces and begging our Father to have mercy on this nation - but I believe He expects us to serve Him by getting the truth out. I don't \"diefy\" Republicans - but I SURE don't want this Democrat who says there's more than one way to the Father and that evolution is not incompatable w/Christianity in office.
Lorisa at 10:20am EDT - October 14, 2008
Just because one claims to be a God fearing person, does not mean that they will do God's will. Bush claimed to be a devout Christian and look where this has gotten us. Let me clarify, I'm neither Democrat or Republican. I listen to what they say, but I trust God to put on my heart what he wants me to do. I just have a hard time believing that Gov. Palin is all that she has been hyped up to be and just because she claims to be a God fearing Christian does not mean that she should automatically get my vote. Not to mention the fact that it is not HER Ticket! She will be the Vice President. Exactly what does everyone expect her to do, she's not the one in charge. Yes, she will be there for council but if her words are falling on deaf ears then what good is all of the hype going to do then. Just remember that in politics things are not what they always seem to be and that goes for both sides. Look at the issues as well because right now we have a lot of them. And regardless of what some say or think, being a Christian does not automatically make you qualified to run a country. I, as I'm sure you do, know many God fearing Christians that can barely manage there own households let alone a large group of people. Like I expressed before, both parties and cadidates are far from perfect. But I believe that through it all no matter what we as individuals believe, God's Will will be done.
A-Jay Orr at 10:59am EDT - October 14, 2008
We're just going to have to agree to disagree A-Jay. Nothing anyone says would ever get me to vote to put a Godless man in office - which leaves me only one choice to vote for. No - Gov Palin is not running for President, but she could be a Christian influence - who are we to say how God would use her if her ticket wins?
Lorisa at 11:17am EDT - October 14, 2008
Understood A-Jay, but as we know God works through people (voters) like you and me and maybe even in the Executive branch with Sarah Palin working with President McCain. I understand your comments about President Bush but he has done some good things as well like the two Supreme Court Justices he appointed. It sounds to me that a President McCain is a going to be a fiscal conservative (I agree Bush was not) and Palin will be representing our social conversative views (Bush was). We will have a strong leader in a President McCain when we have to make decisions like handling the Isreal/Iran crisis which some say Isreal will hit the Iranian nuclear facilities sometime after the elections and before the inaugural which can cause an explosion in this area with a leader in Iran who will pull together other countries to destroy Isreal. Then what will the US do, do we help Isreal or not do we get involved or not? What if Russia begins to enter this because of their quest for oil?
Ask yourself who do you want ruling during these times, someone who speaks well or someone who can LEAD?
Jim
Jim Krejci at 11:25am EDT - October 14, 2008
Lorisa, you are right on in your comments!
Jim Krejci at 11:26am EDT - October 14, 2008
Lorisa-you are competely right. We do not know how He will use her nor do we know how He intends to use each of us. 'Our thoughts are not His thoughts nor are our ways His ways'. It is very intriguing to me that we are all wanting the same thing but we see so many different ways to go about it and visions of how it should be done. We all want God's Grace and Blessings for this country, yet we have seen and heard so many different opinions as to which one of these candidates would be best suited to help us achieve that. The whole point of me comminting on this blog was to share my view that God's Will will be done. Bush won the last election and our country is going through the things that we are going through for a reason. I don't know that reason. Maybe it was to bring about these times where Christians are now realizing that we have to stand up and be the strong voice of this nation in order to get it back on track. No one truely knows but Him, but you have to believe that no matter what His Will is going to be done.
A-Jay Orr at 11:36am EDT - October 14, 2008
I wasn't going to go completely political - but here goes. I don't know why McCain doesn't defend himself on this point. Everyone is pointing fingers at Bush for the last 8 years - we have a Democratic Congress to thank for most of the mess we're in - not to mention it goes all the way back to Carter and Clinton's policies. Heaven knows Bush has made mistakes. ALL Presidents have. Yes A-Jay - God's Will will be done, but when I'm standing in front of Him - I want to be able to say I went down fighting!!
Lorisa at 11:51am EDT - October 14, 2008
Mr. Pink, I thought you have well spoken when you said, \"I have wondered if she was chosen for political expediency, but we have no way of knowing at this time. She is a strong woman of strong faith and may very well influence her new boss for good. I am hopeful. Vote for who you want.\" I thought you have struck a good balance and we all ought to have our opinion on what is good for our country. But what I see is the hypocrisy of those of us who are called Christians and claim to be born again. We ought to be against abortion (that which against the life of the unborn child) and we ought to be against war (that which is against the life of the birthed child) in the same vein. How can we support the prolifiration of that which evidence after evidence has been used be individuals as well as nations to destroy life - like the support of guns and wars. What has happened about being those whom God uses to reconcile the world to Himself. What about accepting that all men are created equal - blacks and whites and that any black man has the right to rule as well as any white man. How about the subtle racial hatred that simmer in the heart of so many that call themselves Christians. The truth sets free if we are willing to confront the truth. The same Church that supported slavery just a few years ago is again blind to see that till today the Church has not gotten over the slave and slave-master mentality that still makes 11 AM every Sunday as the most segregated hour in America. It is the same Church that cannot stand to see that morality cannot be legislated (it does not matter who is the President) but caught as an inspiration through sound teaching of the Church. The failure of any candidate to openly state that the moral issues of abortion can be legislated must not be confused with that candidate's view or assertion that they personally oppose abortion. Even if we contrue such a stand as the right of any individual to choose whether to have abortion or not - why has the Church refused to deal with the act that leads to abortion namely the promiscuity of our society. We need to fight the media and every outlet that promotes sex and deviant sexual behaviors in America. Abortion is the sympton of what is wrong and as bad as the killing of the unborn child is, it is equally as heinous as the act in itself whether a life results from it or not. Sin is sin and no sin is more immoral that the other - the sin of having sex is not more immoral than the sin of abortion. They are all the same thiing and neither is more grave than the other. While we must not quit our fight over abortion, I want the candidate that knows that marriage is that which has no divorce attached to it and will not condone remarriage or sex meant to procreate. I want a candidate that persoanally upholds God's standard of marriage by their examplary life and that is totally against agaisnt sex outside marriage between a man and a woman in all its forms and shapes. I believe this ought to be the issue if we all want the Bible to govern which candidate is right for America. We must support the Candidate who is equally (on all levels) for the life of those who are already born and those who are unborn. We need a Candidate who will model for my daughter and son what a Christian marriage ought to be - one man and one woman yoked in a vow under God for life - no divorce and no remarriage as long as the other spouse lives. We must follow the Bible or shut up.
Prof. M. Joe Omeokwe at 12:07pm EDT - October 14, 2008
Who says you have to go down. Look, there are plenty of fingers to point the blame for the mess that we are in. Yes, the decisions that the Democrats made in the late 90's definetly contributed to the mess we're in now. Bush's push for a war that is costing the American people over $10,000,000,000 a month (that's a lot of zeros) definetly added to some of this as well. I guess my view is just to take a step back and look at the big picture not the political picture. Look back to the 70's,80's,and even the 90's when our country was hands down the most dominant and properous force in the world. Where did we as a nation go so terribly wrong to bring us where we are today. I believe that we forgot who we were. A country that was based and strived on our strong moral and ethical values. A country that would help others not because of how we can prosper from doing it, but because it was the right thing to do. I think that what we are going through now is only a glimpse of what is to come and regardless of who is in office we as Christians have to stand up and lead this country back to the Godly values our country was founded upon that made us the great nation of old.
A-Jay Orr at 12:15pm EDT - October 14, 2008
We're spinning our wheels here, A-Jay! I don't necessarily disagree with what you just posted - but we've gotten away from the meat of how this started. There are 2 candidates to vote for to lead this country for the next four years. From a Christian perspective, Obama is clearly wrong. McCain isn't my favorite choice, either - but I'll take him 100 times over Obama. I can't in good concscience just sit back and do nothing. If I decided I just can't vote for either one and Obama ended up in office - I don't have a leg to stand on. I understand this nation is in alot of trouble - I hope my one little vote helps carry it in a better direction.
Lorisa at 12:30pm EDT - October 14, 2008
I agree with you Lorisa, to an extent we are just spinning our wheels here. I guess all that I'm really getting at is what happens when your choice (not specifically your's) doesn't win? For the Obama supporters what happens if McCain wins and vice versa. Though the debate has been intellectually stimulating for me, the bottom line is we are going to have to unite as Christians under the guide of one candidate or the other. One will win and one will lose but the issues will still remain. So what then? Because a Christian votes for Obama does not make him less of a Christian nor does a vote for McCain make you more of a Christian. Whether it be under McCain or Obama we as Christians need to unite based upon our beliefs and values not our political preferences.
A-Jay Orr at 12:44pm EDT - October 14, 2008
and how are we going to take our country back? We as Christians have to stand up and be counted, not stay home on election day to prove a point. The democrats never stay home on election day. We must not let this happen.
Jim Krejci at 12:49pm EDT - October 14, 2008
I completely disagree with you on one point. I don't know how anyone who professes to be a Christian could vote for Obama. He spits in the face of our most basic beliefs. Jesus said \"NO one comes to the Father but by ME\". Do you believe that? Obama doesn't!! That being said, at this point I spend my energy praying for the McCain/Palin ticket. Should they lose, God forbid, my prayers will go in a very different direction.
Lorisa at 12:59pm EDT - October 14, 2008
Again I agree Lorisa. I am praying for God's mercy on this country and praying for the McCain Palin campaign.
Jim Krejci at 1:13pm EDT - October 14, 2008
Proverbs 26:4 says - Answer not a fool acording to his folly, lest thou also be like unto him. For those of you that understand this situation, please continue to pray for these canidates and continue to follow the conviction in your heart to live for God. For those of you that think that anything good could come from the Democratic party, I suggest you search your heart and read your bible a little more. You obviously dont understand what God wants us to do here on earth and if He is not convicting your heart in this matter, you need to pray about it.
Please stop the bickering.
Jeremy at 1:15pm EDT - October 14, 2008
Jeremy - with all due respect - I don't consider this bickering at all. This kind of debate is what needs to be happening all over this country!!
Jim - Thanks!
Lorisa at 1:26pm EDT - October 14, 2008
Lorisa one has absolutely nothing to do with the other. The way in which on decides to vote based upon their own understanding and interprutation does not make them more or less of a Christian. Just as an example, some people look at this election and are concerned about what is going on in the financial market right now and are looking for some sort of direction. If they relate more to Obama's plan or believe that he will have a better impact on their financial future and they are a Christian and they vote for him it does not make them any less of a Christian. It simply means that individual felt as though he could relate more to Obama or vice versa. I personally don't know about Obama's beliefs. If he believes that there is more then one way to get to heaven then may God have mercy on his soul because he has completely missed the boat. But he has to settle that with God, it is not my place to judge him in that sense, because truthfully the media can depict what they want but only God knows the heart and soul of a man/woman. I really think it to be perposterous for one to question the level of ones faith based upon how they vote. So on the converse side, if you have a candidate who is a devout Christian but you don't agree with any of his/her ideals and plans do you still vote for them even if you think by operating under their plans the problems will only get worse. Do you turn a blind eye to that simply because he/she is a Christian? And by doing so I'm more of a Christian because I voted for the fellow Christian even though I didn't agree with their policies? I don't understand the logic in that.
A-Jay Orr at 1:29pm EDT - October 14, 2008
Lorisa,
I know and have the same feelings as you. Believe me. But some people will not change their views no matter what.
Jeremy at 1:33pm EDT - October 14, 2008
Jeremy - which seems to be the situation here.
A-Jay - this is absolutely where we part ways. I've made my point as vehemently as I can. If you can justify putting Obama in office, that's certainly your right to do so. I pray it's not so. I'm not going to debate a hypothetical situation that has no bearing on what's going on here and now. Even if I thought Obama had the best economic package - I would NOT vote for him. How can you justify voting for your financial future over your Christian beliefs? Talk about spitting in the face of God!
Lorisa at 1:55pm EDT - October 14, 2008
oh but Jeremy prayer is powerful thing. Consider Hezekiah, he was about to die but prayed for to God for mercy and he added 15 years of life and he rescued his city from Assyria. How about King Josiah prayer being answerd and God said, \"I will not bring about the promised disaster until you have died and been buried in peace. You will not see the disaster I am going to bring on this city.\"
Yes those were the reading I was lead to as I prayed and read the Word this weekend. I am praying like they prayed!
Jim Krejci at 2:16pm EDT - October 14, 2008
Jim - you are SO right. Lord forgive my hasty remark.
Lorisa at 2:24pm EDT - October 14, 2008
When I read the comments so far, to me it validates that both politcal parties have made fools of the church. Whether a conservative or liberal \"Christian\", we have bowed at the feet of Baal. Lorisa, the fact that I don't support either candidate does not mean that I will not vote. My point is that God's will supersedes all of our votes. Open your eyes to the Spirit of God. Stop looking at McCain and Obama. Don't allow your 'doctrinal' views to determine your vote. Listen to the Holy Spirit. Did not God set Cyrus - a wicked king - to proclaim liberty to His people? My flesh does not want a wicked President - so tell me which of the two men are the righteous? My Spirit yearns for the will of God to be manifest regardless of who wins (Matthew 6:10).
One final thought. Many are praying for McCain/Palin to win. Equally, many are praying for Obama/Biden to win. If the candidate you are praying for loses, did God fail to hear your prayers? Did Christians fail in the voting booth? or can we submit to the Lord Jesus Christ and expect His perfected will to be done (Romans 8:28)?
Tim Kurtz at 3:03pm EDT - October 14, 2008
My friend it is like this if McCain/Palin win, I believe My Lord is having mercy on this country that has moved so away from Him and is giving, like Hezekiah, a little reprive from impending diasaster. I am 50 years old and I see our country is becoming as far left as countries like England and France have become. By the way have you looked at their healthcare system, jobless rate and economy over the years.
Now take a look at our countries TV lineup and movie lineup other than (Fireproof). You cannot even watch them and say you are doing God's will because what they promote is all over scripture warning us to stay away from it. I see a lot of scripture quoting in the posts above but if we want this country to keep going down the track of moral failure and catering to left and its liberal views which go against \"Serving God First\" we must continue to have this debate and work to rally as many votes as possible for a chance and I say chance at \"moral\" change we must vote the right party in. Now if Obama wins then my prayer will remain the same. I will pray for God's mercy.
Jim Krejci at 3:34pm EDT - October 14, 2008
I wholeheartedly agree with Jim. Tim - I believe my eyes and heart ARE open to the Holy Spirit. That's why I'm so passionate in my debate here. I don't believe I'm being foolish. If Obama wins, that doesn't mean God didn't hear my prayers - but I don't profess to know the mind of God. I will continue to seek His wisdom and guidance no matter what happens. For right now - I'm going in the direction I feel He's sending me.
Lorisa at 3:46pm EDT - October 14, 2008
Lorisa-please do not insult me. In know way have I spit in the face of my Lord. The previous passage was merely an example of how things may be viewed, but also proves the point I previously mentioned. Throughout this debate I have shown where I stand and that is with the Lord not the candidates. But one mention of anything that remotely sounds like support for Obama and now I'm said to have spit in the face of God. How perposterous does that sound. Once again it amazes me how Christians can be so critical of other Christians. Aren't we all supposed to be on the same team?
Tim-it is good to see that someone else views things the way that I do. God's Will is the most important thing, not the individual candidates in this election. Regardless of who wins this election, God has a plan and His Will will be done.
I just hope that through this debate that we can take a step back and see how emotionally attached we have become to these political parties. News flash, God does not support a specific party. Therefore no one can rightfully say that a particular party should be the party for Christians.
A-Jay Orr at 6:52pm EDT - October 14, 2008
I apologize if you took that as a personal insult A-Jay. It was in no way meant to be a personal attack. I was addressing the idea you put out there. We simply cannot agree on anything other than our wish to see God's will done. That being said - this is my last post here. I never wanted it to turn ugly. I wish you well A-Jay. We really are on the same side.
Blessings

It is sad that people can't discuss important things without feeling getting hurt. I just wish Christians could get it in their head that both parties are basically the same. Two sides of a coin. Bush proved this. I find it hard to blame congress and not him also. I feel he really messed us up and we are basically a socialist country now with this bail out of banks and this war. Congress messed up when they allowed him to start a war which is unconstitutional, and again he lied about why we needed to go. Stop putting your hope in the two party system. They say one thing and do another. They just want power and that is corrupt. I dont think a true christian could get far, look at Dr. Ron Paul. The powers to be would not allow him to debate. He is a true freedom fighter and Christian. If you want a party that is more true to our beliefs like more to the Constitutional party.
McCain I just dont trust him or believe him same for all of them. Obama may take many of our freedoms away, so be careful with him too. Like freedom of speech. However I hate to say this I worry that the elections maybe pre-determined. It has been proven that the machines have been tampered with. They are not secure. Check out: Black box voting.org There was corruptions in many states. Please wake up. Either way God have mercy on us and the countries we attach. I pray for our troops and the innocent people we are killing including children and woman. Please stop the wars.
When you vote for a less of evil you are still voting for evil. I am going to concentrate on local officials.

I feel this has been an excellent and worthwhile exchange of viewpoints. Many of the viewpoints expressed are some of the most common viewpoints that are covered in the media. But what has not yet been not covered in media that was covered in this blog dialog is the viewpoint that God is in charge and that His will and plan to restore is kingdom is being carried out. But God has revealed to me that He has chosen to keep what he is doing a secret and a mystery to most people even to those who profess belief in Christ. This being the case, it is not suprising to me and to others who are part of the Fellowship of this mystery, that not only the media has not grasped this truth but also most of the church has not yet grasped the truth that the real and ongoing work of Jesus, that began on the cross of calvary, is to destroy the works of the devil and to cast his influence out of the world/earth sphere. As Jesus has been doing this secretly assited by his overcoming saints, the kingdoms of this world have been gradually transitioned into the Kingdom of our Lord and of His Christ and He shall reign forever and ever. Amen (As per Rev. 10:7 and 11:15)
This worldwide financial upheaval is for sure the fall of Babylon the great that the zeal of the Lord of Hosts is bringing to pass. Satan' s final work in all this is to try and get people to accuse and cast blame on our leaders and others. But the work of Jesus will reconcile this iniquity and bring all peoples together as one even as he is one with the Fatheras is propesied in Daniel 9:24. God will cause all Christians to see that all Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists or what ever are all the children of God who have been as deceived as Chrisitans have been deceived by the devil to separate us from the love that God has for all His children which is all humanity.
But we know that nothing can separate us from the love of God. Therefore the work of satan to do so has only been temorarily successful. Now, inthe day in which we now live, Jesus is destroying this temorarily work of the devil. This is relfected in Jesus' s words, \"Now is the judgement of this world, now is the prince of this world (satan) cast out.
And I, if I be lifed up, I will draw ALL MEN unto me. For it is God' s will that ALL MEN will be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth.
This is the universal message of God' s salvation that the early church believed. But over the years Satan has distorted and twisted this glorious good news (gospel message to reduce it a mesage of limited atonement onely for those who believe it.
