Sons in the Marketplace – Can Walk in a Straight Line
By
November 12, 2007"Thus says the LORD to his anointed, to Cyrus, whose right hand I have held, to subdue nations before him; and I will (1) loose the armor of kings,(2) to open before him the two-leaved gates; and the gates shall not be shut; (3) I will go before you, and (4) make the crooked places straight: (Isa 45:1-3) When I was a young man selling life insurance in the fishing villages of British Columbia, I sometimes had to travel by mountainous logging roads to get from one village to the next. On one particularly memorable trip, it took me three hours of zig zagging up and down a washed out gravel mountain road just to get to my first prospect. Thirty years later, I returned with my wife to show her that same rustic fishing village. To my delight, the government had come in and made a straight path, a paved highway, and the travel time between the two towns was now only twenty minutes. What a difference a straight path can make! That is precisely what God did for Cyrus. He made the crooked places straight. When everyone else had to fight the terrain, God promised Cyrus He would make his path straight. Would that all our paths be straight; but not all crooked paths are bad. There is much to learn in the struggle that can't be learned on the paved highway. Think of the crooked path as training. It's where things get worked out in you to prepare you for the responsibility of the straight path, when things can accelerate. Jesus knew all about straight paths. He could (and did) walk through walls. I believe as we mature into sonship (not a gender statement), we will also do the seemingly impossible. We will walk through walls of resistance that were built to keep us out. Some of you reading this are running into those walls right now and Jesus stands ready to lead you right through that wall. You will find yourself on the other side and not quite know how you got there, but there you will be. Do you think Peter understood how he was able to walk on water? It was only when he began to reason, that he began to sink. Selah.

Good point! Apart from \"manifestation\" of the supernatural glory of God, the only thing that we've got is another opinion/philosophy. The apostle Paul said it time after time \"If I've not proclaimed (by demonstrating) this word in power (\"manifestation\" of the supernatural miracle-working glory of God) then I've not accomplished my mission (my paraphrase.)

Thanks for the encouraging word! I have had to travel many crooked paths in my career. Instead of becoming bitter, I have looked back and viewed those situations and my current state of unemployment as times to teach and humble me and to wait on Him to raise me up in His time and way. His timing and ways are always best!

\"...but not all crooked paths are bad...\"
Thank you for that! I look back at my crooked path and in hindsight can definitely see it as necessary training for where I'm at today. Fresh out of college I was in a job I didn't like (that's the mild version!). But I was contractually obligated to fulfill the job for the year, so I toughed it out. At the worst moment I remember driving on a lonely country road asking God to show me a sign that He was still there with me. At that moment I saw a beautiful shooting star streak across the sky. God gave me the peace I needed to continue!
16 years later I look back at that year and realize God was using it to give me the confidence I needed to move on to the next stage of my life. I sure wouldn't want to go there again, but I really do appreciate the lessons learned during that time which helped me get to where I am today.

It has been my desire that God move in my heart, life, and spirit; in order to make me in HIS image. I know that there are many things that need to be washed and cleansed from me. But I am not what I was, THANK GOD! I am not where I should be, But I will continue to thank Him as He continues His way in me!
Pray for me that I would soon get a job, through His way, and not mine!

After reading your blog, I prayed that you will get a job soon that will glorfify God in the marketplace or where He calls you. Since I am also in between full-time jobs (I currently teach part-time at a local community college), I know what it's like to be without a full-time job.
Would the great news of a new full-time job be a wonderful Christmas present for the both of us and others who are in the same situation?
He is certainly able to do exceedingly and abundantly beyond what we ask Him to do on our behalf!

Good post (Staright Paths). What occured to me while reading this: Adam was to go out into the earth and wherever he went he would \"subdue\", Kabash - impose the the condition of the Heavenly substance he carried and emitted, on the existing condition of, the earth. He would not have learned how, nor had the ability to do what he was supposed to, by difficult circumstances, crooked, difficult, roads. He would have learned it purely within his close relationship with his Father... by hanging out regularly. Then, wherever he stepped, the light emitting from him would always be stronger than the darkness he encountered, and would change the surroundings, automatically. Yes, God can and most likely uses any, and every, thing we encounter in the context of our transformation... in the midst of this broken world. But, it's IN CONTEXT, not by design. He never intended Adam to \fall\". Man was designed to live fully in the original context, complete, \"good\", and live forever in the earth, not heaven. \"Going to Heaven\" only has it's place because we do not know how to live in the fullness of what Jesus purchased back for us, the original condition and commission of Adam. Jesus became Adam again (\"the second Adam\") to successfully inject the full DNA of God's original intent back into the earth again, so that WE could now \"walk in it\". But, the condition of the Western church, particularly, is not conducive, yet, to walking in grace, \"God's ability\". Until the Holy Spirit has full sway to direct it, we will walk in tradition and a \"smoky\" version of the truth... playing fraternity and religion. The Body has to become \"organic\" and truely functional, not organizational and structural (legal), for that sort of \"flow\" and harmony (unity) to happen sufficiently for the Father to hear the sort of passion from the Bride necessary for Him to then say, \"Ah, it's time! Jesus, go get your Bride!\" Learning our true Identity as \"Sons\", not sheep, will make all the difference, functionally, productively, in terms of Worshipping with true passion. Until then, we will keep \"playing\" at \"church\". Selah!"

Thank you for that Michael. He has not finished with any of us yet but He has promised that He will complete the work He has begun in us up until the day of Christ Jesus. Along the way we stumble and make many mistakes, the places are certainly very crooked at times. However He wants us to trust Him and walk in the Spirit daily. Letting go of control of our lives is something most of us find hard to do as we've been used to being in the driving seat.
Please pray that I will not leave this mortal plane until I have completed that work for which He sent me here to accomplish!

Bless you Michael, for this lesson of walking a straight line, I am praying for God to help me walk through some walls now, praying that I may mature into a daughtership with God, and accomplish what he has me here on earth to do. Pray for me I need a healing touch in my body.

Appreciate your words - the Lord has told us that His ways are higher than our ways (Is 55:9). What an inspiration to get our eyes off of ourselves and our circumstances and simply believe God. We can all rejoice and thank God for making our paths straight.
Thanks for the encouraging words.
Jesus bless you

Thank you so much for this Word. It has been such a blessing to me. The organization where I work is eliminating jobs now and it appears that they are coming for mine, however, God said for me to put my trust in Him and not in man, not in a job. God is totally in control whether I keep my job or have to move on.
I am 60 years old, so it is difficult for me to think about getting another job at my age, but God is my provider, He said to just trust Him. I have to trust Him whether I continue with this organization or not. I have been with them for 22 years and this is the second time they are doing this. The first time shame on them, the second time shame on me. However, I will wait on God and allow Him to make my crooked path straight. I will allow God to make for me a smooth transition into another job or into retirement.
Thank you so much for an on time Word.
Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family
God bless you

I agree with you 100%. Thanks for the messsage. God seems to reinforce again and again the fact that we learn best when we go through difficulties and troubles. That way we learn to appreciate our circumstances and at least try and see what God is accomplishing in our lives. This is what I call gold nuggets of God's ways. Very enlightening. Thank you!
