Find Natural Barriers to Maximize Efficiency

As I write this blog entry, I am flying home from Seattle to Florida. It's been a busy week with doing a Get Motivated event with Zig Ziglar on Tuesday, visiting family in Canada and staying on top of several business priorities. Did I mention this was a "red-eye" flight arriving home at 6:30 am? The good news is that flying is an excellent "no-pest zone" for me. You see, in the rainforest, there are 7 strategies built into the ecosystem to help plant life erect a barrier to pests. The more effectively they keep pests at bay, the faster they grow and the more productive they are. The same is true for us. Trees are most vulnerable when their leaves are fresh and tender. (Our projects are most vulnerable when they are in the formative stages.) Some trees utilize a defense strategy called, Rapid Leaf Expansion where they shoot out their new leaves at a remarkably quick rate. By the time pests discover the new leaves, they are already grown and tough. The application is simple: Get motivated. Set aside short blocks of focused time for nothing but the project at hand. (This is especially important with a new project.) You can get more done in a concentrated spurt of time than in a prolonged period of time with multiple interruptions. Look for times where natural barriers exist like on a plane, in a waiting room, when your spouse is out of town, the kids are at the ball game, etc. Consecrate that block of time for one important task or group of related tasks. The same principle applies to sales. Set aside "time blocks" for answering email, making cold calls, returning phone calls. Don't let the circumstances dictate your schedule. You're the adult here. Take control. As much as possible, make them fit within your schedule. Think of the Rapid Leaf Expansion strategy. Get motivated and get more done! Until next time, be fruitful, then multiply!

This is exactly what is happening to me. The Lord gave me the opportunity to make an excelent project, a calibration laboratory for Biomedical equipment, with the Quality Standard Certificate, ISO 17025. This is a brand new norm that the Government from Colombia, where my company is from, is requiring from Clinics and Hospitals. My sons are in Pittsburgh in a \"Youth with a Mission\"base, in evangelism training, my wife is out of town visiting her family, so, all done.... The tree is growing with wonderful leaves fresh and strong. The project is begining and running fine. Please, help me with your praying for this taht no pest will catch it nd the barriers stand strongly deffending the project. God bless you for the every day motivation.
