Knowing God's Will by His Spirit
By
August 14, 2006What if you can’t find an answer in Scripture? How can you know the will of God? As one blogger recently cited, we are to be led by the Spirit. In fact, the ability to be led by the Spirit is a sign of spiritual maturity. Romans 8:14 says, “As many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.” They are no longer babes in Christ, needing the milk of the word. According to John, they have overcome the wicked one; they are strong and the word of God abides (lives) in them.
I have often struggled to know what course to take. On more than one occasion, I have gone to the woods or a nearby stream or someplace peaceable where I waited on God. I actually spent time tuning into Him, worshiping Him, thanking Him and petitioning Him for His insight into the matter. On more occasions than I can recount, He has given me breakthrough ideas that have made a huge difference for me or for my clients.
Recently, a client I had was having a major difficulty overcoming a particular objection to the concept they were promoting to big corporations. They kept running into the same wall, the same objection and it was very difficult to overcome. God helped me to see the solution in very simple terms, using different terminology, and the result was immediate. They secured more transactions (averaging over $1 million each) in the next 60 days than they had in the previous 18 months! God is no respecter of persons. Get away from the noise of your day and get reacquainted with His voice.

Michael,
I have a similar situation with a large client.
I have been struggling to get people to move on the issues. I need to be quiet, still, listen and let God take this where it is supposed to go.
Thank you for the insight. Your dailey messages are always on time.
God bless.

I don't undestand this reference from today's daily message ... \"God is no respecter of persons\" ... and maybe I'm reading it out of context. Can someone help me, please? Peace.

The reference \"God is no respecter of persons\".... means in God eyes we are equal. God does not distinguish between our intellect, gifts, financial status, race, etc. and when you heed to scripture his Word will be made manifest in your life circumstances. In other words, God does not use worldly attributes, i.e. titles, money, past performance, etc. as a qualifier (measuring stick) to justify pouring a blessing out to us. Hope this helps.

Sometimes the spirit leads things into evangelistic opportunities. I remember as a stockbroker, I had a millionaire client who would joke that I would only call him when he had money. ..but it kept happening...
Finally one day I called and he was silent for a long time and then got very upset with me. Suspecting me of spying on him. \"I just sold the condo in Boston I have been trying to sell for two years. I have a check for 250,000 finally on my desk. They just brought it over a minute ago and you call right now!!!!!!! Who do you know, how do you know my financial situation so well. My secretary swares she doesn't know you ... .\"
I then knew that I had his full attention and began to explain about God being my silent business partner. \" I guess He had you on His list and decided to use this to get your attention. I just pick up the phone when I get the thought to do it. I had no idea about the condo, you know there is no way that I could. God knows everything about you, and He probably wanted to remind you of that.\"
I am sure He never forgot that phone call.

I have to say that God moves in amazing ways.We have to get into he habit of carefully listening to God about everything, forming the habit of finding out what He says and heeding it.
Ever heard of joke about the husband who reads the paper ,while the wife is rattling of a event and at the end of the story asks what do you think and all he says is huh?
Many a times all focus is elsewhere, that we really miss that sweet still small voice.
Hear a word from Him and your life is changed forever !

Wow! This reminder has blessed me today. Thank you!

We as mature believers may not need the milk of the word but we sure need the meat of the word.Just an observation that I thought should have been expounded upon.

What a great reminder! The real meat is \"to be led by the Spirit\" in accordance with God's Word. So different from flipping a coin to decide, or taking a poll, or some other \"visible logic\" formulae. As Jesus said, \"My sheep Hear My Voice... and they follow Me.\" (John 10:27) The middle part of that verse is \"and I know them\" -- both a comforting and convicting thought. Keep up the diligent pursuit, Michael. Our Shepherd speaks truth and grace; I follow Him with you. Relationship is key!

My wife and I were blessed with a baby boy just three weeks ago, and it's amazing how he already recognizes our voices amidst all the many things that have been happening around him for less than a month (many people tell us he has really known our voices since before he was born, which makes good sense), and he tends to want to follow a voice that has nurtured him along the way. Thanks for the commentary on John 10:27 --- it gives me fantastic perspective. Peace.

In December of of 2004 I was approached by the owner of an insurance agency to come for for him. I was in a different industry at the time and had done business with them in years past. I did accept there offer and stated working for them in Feb., 2005. However, I spend many hours seeking God's guidance, talking about the opportunity with my wife as well as other Christian business friends. I was frustrated from the fact that I really did not hear from God about the direction I should take.
A close church friend said to me \"Perhaps God will bless you whether you stay with your current employer or go to work for this other employer\".
As I said I took the job with the insurance agency and have grown in many areas of my life including financially!
I guess God answers prayer even when we don't believe he is answering us.
God bless you and your organization.

Hi Michael,
Your comments as always bring a lift to my day. I have been thinking and praying heavily this past week about the current condition of the world. I went onto the MySpace.com website for the first time to see what it was all about. I was so saddened by what I saw. I have been praying about this and feel I am being led into something that Iwas going to bring up to you and your group. I am considering creating my own page, because the one young lady who so saddened me did not allow anyone but her friends to write on her blog. It will be my story as a mentoring reach out page. Honest, forthright about the mistakes and what I have learned. Perhaps other people would be willing to go \"into the camp\" armed only with that weapon with me? Perhaps you could organize a directory for it and we could all provide links to your website so kids could view other mentors?
Thanks for thinking about this.

As we pray in Christ, we mature in Him. Our focus should never be on self; but on Christ. How miraculous He is; how great thou art, will only be revealed to each one of us when we learn to take the time to stop our fussy way of living (repenting of our sins) to be blessed by our true Father. He knows our every need. \"Thy will be done...\" Blessings in Chist's name. Mat6:10; Luke11:28
